Overhead consol

See what i bought on e-gay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT

I think it will be the first Sy in Northern Europe with an overhead consol Need the temp to see when it's time to park it for the winter and compass so i don't get lost and end up in Norway

I'm not driving my rust free Texas truck in snowy and salty Sweden in the winter time.

That's a hell of a deal...now you just need to read justbeachin's post on how he hooked it up and calibrated it.

BTW, that console is too long to fit inside the roof of the sy. You're going to have to shorten it and do some work to make it look clean.

I just installed one of those in my Canyon. I haven't got the display hooked up yet as I was looking for tips on getting it done properly.

I'll try to get a pic of the install posted if anyone is interested. I thought about doing it in the SoGT but decided against it due to the extensive modifications. Keep us posted on how it goes I may change my mind.

i say best bet would be to use one out of a 99 blazer with a sunroof. its only the front part of the console. which has the temp and compass on it, but then the full one is better to stroe more things.

I looked at those but i wanted a full lenght consol, i don't mind modifying this one. I did messure the Sy tonight and it looks like it's less then a couple of inches that need to be modifyed. I'll take pics when i start this project, going to have a lot more time now when i'm in Sweden.

I was looking for that post and can't seem to find it. Do you know if it included the gas mileage, trip, temp. etc.? I am pretty sure the clock and compass is internal.

This is only compass and temp in US or Metric, compass is internal and temp have a sender behind the grill. The one you are talking about have a small trip computer built in to calculate gas milage and other things. Those are on newer GM modela and a little harder to wire in.

Yea, that's the one i have. Came right out of a Bravada like my old one. I got so used to having it for the storrage that I just HAD to have it in the canyon. I thought I'd take a chance and see if that one was the same as mine and learn a little more about it's wiring. Guess I'll keep on searching... Thanks for the post.
