Re: upgraded lower IC radiator.

I have some questions, they may seem not very logical but I'm new and still learning. Is this a intercooler or a rad? When you say lower IC rad does it go down by the air scoop. I uninstalled my ATR upper IC and I'm converting to air to air. Was thinking about putting the air to air down low by the induction scoop so I don't block my rad, trans cooler, and oil cooler. Please answer me in best of detail, and if you have any questions please ask. I'm upgrading from a TE45A turbo to a 67-74GTQ turbo. Thanks for your time.

this is the lower heat exchanger, you say you are removing the upper ATR IC, you will see your 2 waterlines are going to the stock exchanger (where the scoop is). this is a replacement for that, and alot bigger!

Yea, I'm going to have to check out my lower section. I don't remember seeing any type of rad or h/e there at all in the first place. The owner before me maybe took it out? Only thing I remember is a pump that circulates fresh cool water/antifreeze to the old ATR upper IC. Or at least that what it looks like to me. (lines comming from front rad to ATR) I could be wrong though. My truck is in the garage at my parents house.

With that said, I guess that could be a real problem if that lower rad is missing? Also, is that lower spot above the scoop a good place for a big intercooler?

yeah, your intake temp will climb and climb if you don't have the exchanger. i would save my money and buy this thing and keep the ATR.
RPM sells a A2A IC where the intercooler sits at the place were normally the lowerheat exchanger is mounted.

I'll send you the PDF file on how to instll the lower IC by mail if you want.
Then you can see how it was and can be.
If you are going t Air toAir i'm very interested in the ATR upper IC:D
If you leave the upper in place without a lower RAD, YES youve got a real problem!! unless you go for A/A, you can delete everything W/A

Let me know about the ATR upper?

I'm either losing my mind, or I can't read :rotf: Ok, I'm losing my mind because I'm working 8pm to 8am this week 7 days in a row :crazyeye:

Today I could barely keep my eyes open, but the only thing I could see down low is a pump and my crossover pipe. I would really have to start uninstalling the bumper and scoop to get a closer look down low. Anyways, just wanted to make sure I heard you correctly. If I convert to Air to Air I don't need a lower rad.

I do plan on going a2a and already have a member called dibs on the ATR. If he does not buy it, I'll throw it your way for the same price. Still waiting for the reply back about the ATR. Also, my ATR already has the cut outs for a alky injection kit. Of course I'm taking my fittings out of it so I can use them in my new set up. Just reply to this post here and I'll stop hogging up the thread. Learning more and more about SyTys lately. Really can't wait until my project is complete.

EDIT POST: OMG, I just realized your the one I'm waiting for a PM from. Did you get my PM? I got shipping cost with and without insurance. I also took some pics, I just needed your email address to send the pics to. HAHA I can't believe that slipped my vision. I better eat lunch and get to bed.

He when you drive on alkyd contineuosly you can drive without the lower radiator ( with will be better though) But Alkyd is the best (chemical) cooling there is, especialy with higher boosts in mine opinion.
let me know what the atr upper must $ and send some pics to erwin@stage-vision.nl
If you also could take mesaurement of it i would appreciate it.
So I can make one myself.
