So if I am cruising at anything above 50 I get a slight whine from the Sy when I am off the throttle but if I apply any throttle at all it goes away. Would this be something in the tranny or maybe the diffs?

Sounds like a differential to me. There's a certain amount of backlash between the ring and pinion, and the forces between the two change whether you're coasting or accelerating. Does it sound like its coming from the floor at all? I know the transfer case has a slight whine to it normally.

yeah it does sound like it is coming from underneath the floor so maybe it is just the transfer case.

I had that same sound in my 01 sierra and the planatery gears in my tranny where shot had to have it rebuilt
