Not all injectors created equal

Some of you may know this some may not. I had driveablity issues with my truck going lean under normal driving above 2500 rpm. This started when I did my turbo pl chip and precision injectors. On a whim I pulled the injectors out and put them on the flow bench and found out the (50) lb injector were a 41-45 lb. So thinking I may have gotten a miss marked set, I looked up the delphi # which came back as a 50. So I bought another set and borrowed a set from a freind and found the same thing as before. I called precision and the said they have never had anyone call and complain, but asured me they were 50 because they flow and match them, bs. So this covers delphi, precision,msd and racetornix , and holley injectors sense they are all the same injector. After spending several hours testing we found only a few different type of injectors were correct, the ev14 were one of them which are in my truck now.

I suspected their were different 50# injectors. This flow difference betweeen different set of 50# injectors is one of the reason the off shelf 50# ultimate works great for truck but runs poorly on another.

I've suspected this for years, as well. Nice to have some evidence.

People think they have 50s, and don't know what they really have.


I've had no such trouble with the Mototron 60s.

what pressue did you test them at? i've seen dual listings for different fuel pressure settings

Very good to know. I just bought a set of 75's from RPM, I wonder if they are in the clear.

I tested them at 43.5 psi. I did not test them at the higher pressure they had listed because after having a base fp that high there would of been no room to add boost ontop of that on a stock syle walbro. I was having to run a base of 55 psi just to b able to drive it.

i may use my red Armstrong 009 42.5s on a stock tune and lower my f/p down to a manageable level- like 38 psi so i can safely add more boost

im also at 50+ for stock injectors

im also at 50+ for stock injectors

I have done some testing on 009's over the yrs and found out that they tend to be on the richer side. My buddy has a Gn with them in it and it always ran rich and had a very bad off idle stumble due to this. So on a whim i got him a bob bailey extender chip for 50's and it runs great.

My other buddy mike banas had to set his injector constant in his chip to 48 for his car to run correctly on the 009's.
