test fuel pressure gauge

I bought a fuel pressure test gauge today from napa. I screwed it onto the shraeder valve and ran the blead hose to a gas can. Cycled the fuel pump a couple of times. Fuel pressure at that point was about 45. I blead it off, started the Ty and the gauge pulsated back and fourth the entire time at idle. It was somewhere in the neighborhood of 41 and 45, I couldn't get an accurate reading. Then after pulling the vac line on the bosch fpr and holding my finger over the end of the vacuum line the pressure was 50. Is this normal?

Mine does the same thing. The pressure fluctuates between 42 to 46psi at idle. When the vac is pulled from the fpr, its a bit more steady however I dont think mine went to 50 but it was more like 42 psi. I'm not a technician, just know that my vehicle does the same thing and right now she is running better than she has ever ran.

Re: test fuel pressure gauge

Cool thanks for the help. Im pretty happy I cold started it today and let it get about halfway warmed up and no "service engine" light. Im pretty sure I fixed all its issues.

Re: test fuel pressure gauge

stock fuel pressure is either 42 or 46 I can't remember off hand for sure.. normally people with aftermarket chips need a base a bit higher like 50lbs.

always check the fuel pressure with the vacuum line disconnected and plugged from the fuel pressure regular that'll give you true reading.

Re: test fuel pressure gauge

Thanks again guys, it seems if you post questions on here people assume you don't know anything at all. Im just wanting to learn a bit more about how other people are tuning their SYTY's.
