laag?

what do you big turbo guys do to eliminate lag?

if i'm racing froma roll and i punch it.. i get dreaded lag then she pulls like hell.

i'm running a r.p.m precision 70mm kit.

do you guys do a transbrake with these trucks?
do you spray nitrous to get rid of lag?
how much boost do you guys leave the line while footbraking?
just wondering.. thanks any advice is great.

Re: laag?

WAYS TO REDUCE LAG:
Adjust wastegate
Boost controller
Open up exhaust
Bigger tourqe converter for boosting off the line. I can push close to 10 psi coming off the line before I push through the breaks on the stock converter.
Brake boosting. (durring a roll use the break and gas at the same time to build boost while moving)

not many people do the t brake I think

not many spraying nitrous either

depends on brakes - stock vary whilst the brake upgrades see people leaving the line with upwards of 15 psi...

vortec upgrade makes your lag less of an issue unless you put a bigger turbo on it...same problem again...

Re: laag?

i have never honestly heard about brake torqueing while on the roll.. i will take that one into consideration.

i am running a open exhaust right now.

i have c5 disc brakes all the way around.

i have not yet tried to boost launch it yet with the current build. i need some new tires.

i'm running a bigger turbo. already.

how much power can a typhoon handle before we run into breaking propshaft, driveshaft, rearend, transfer case etc.?????

do i need to start changing things? i'm running 432 rwhp and 632 ft lbs unlocked converter. mustang dyno.

If your running the stock propshaft, you make short work of it once you start boost launching (ie recommend to replace it) The next thing I would worry about it the transmission even if its upgraded.

Re: laag?

I put a 370 cubic inch lsx in mine ;-) but thats not the typical route. If you have trouble building enough boost from a launch do a hydroboost setup. With the v6 and my t76 i couldnt hardly get 10lbs before pushing through the brakes, but after the hydroboost i could do as much as i wanted (did 20 lbs one time it was interesting). I have a 4l80e with a 3500 stall.

Also, i dont know how much tuning you do, but with my FAST setup i put a lot more ignition timing in it down low to make it spool quicker and that made a huge difference. I bumped the timing as much as i could without it leaning out anywhere throughout the rpm range.

WTF! leaving the line with 20 psi. That has to be rediculous!

That sounds like fun :D

Re: laag?

better brakes arent gonna help you spool, they'll just stop the back tires from spinning. I've held 15psi on a 72mm with stock brakes no problem.

I've tried hold the brakes when roll racing, and all it seems to do is cause knock, since the engine is under a load already, then you try to brake torque it at speed, and forces an even bigger load on it.

Is your spooling problem getting from vacuum to 1psi, or is it getting from 5psi to 20psi?
I run a 72mm journal bearing, with a 3400 9/11. Once your stall is high enough to break outta vacuum and into boost, you shouldn't have a problem.

Yea all it did was spin all 4 tires and make a sharp left turn

Like Aeroking said, the brakes just help it stay still, not build boost faster. Building the boost faster depends on the tune and the stall. Of course if you have a 105mm turbo on a stock engine those things may not help much anyway if the motor cant flow the air in the first place.
