I searched and couldn't come up with anything. Aside from RPM, are there any other manufacturs of headers for ty\sys out there that would work with stock engine? thanks

Re: Headers?

ATR and Kenne Bell both made headers as well as keith Meese but none of those three still make them. Might be able to pickup a set of used ones if you post a wanted add but do your research to see what type of turbos and downpipes are required to fit etc first before purchasing.

Re: Headers?

give it time. Soon, unfortunately ,you'll be able to get RPM knock-offs from China for less than $300 made of polished 304 stainless.

what're you basing this fallacy on? there is no way anyone would be able to make knockoffs so cheaply for such a small market.

Re: Headers?

mustang svo, buick grand national, ect....sad but true. How many Sy/Ty's total were made? 9000 SVO's total over 3 years. Knock-off headers on ebay.

Re: Headers?

Venders get the turbo buick headers for about $70-$90 a set(or so I've read). They sell for less than $200 on ebay.304 polished stainless steel. Beautiful to look at! Some bolt up, some don't, most crack, a few don't. Don't underestimate what someone will do for $$$ when it takes NO effort on their part. We need to be prepared for "when" it happens. "New" members will join the forums and get cozy with older members. Next thing you know, the members become venders and people will begin "justifying" the buying of China parts. I've seen it twice before :(

Truckless. For now.
Re: Headers?

Unless you just want to add another mod to your list, you don't really need headers. Stock exhaust manifolds have gone deep into the 10's. :dunno:

I certainly wouldn't waste the time or $$ on headers for a stock motor.
When you start putting brodix heads on and building serious motors, then you will need them.

Re: Headers?

they sure LOOK nice. Looks like another OBX product. I highly doubt we'll see something like that pop up for SyTys. They made a horseload of GNs.

Re: Headers?

to contribute to the actual thread. If the engine is stock just find or have your manifolds ceramic coated. Unless you're loaded and just like the "look" of real headers:D I do!(but I'm not loaded)

(oh, and be prepared for the ebay front mount intercoolers too).... must,,, stop,,,,hijacking,,,,,

Re: Headers?

there's company's in china that will make anything you want, no minimum order but more is always better. The last company I worked for ordered everything from china, some of it was actually nice, but the more detailed stuff lacked quality. I bought a rad off of e-bay for my 62 Biscayne and it was made in China, no "issues" yet, butu the quality was pretty nice.

Re: Headers?

Chinese build for quanity, not quality. I can't really think of anything made in china that ='d high quality. Maybe an epiphone les paul guitar, but the previous korean version was actually built better. Niether compare to the American version.

Re: Headers?

i'd have to say 9 out of 10 people who call up to order headers, get talked out of it (by me) . There are alot of parts which would be much more beneficial if you are on a budget, and haven't already built the motor and installed a large turbo.

I'd much rather see a customer happy and spend his money wisely then waste $1800 on a set of headers which will net half the power gains as a simple bolt on turbo upgrade.

Those who are running mid to low 11s or faster will probably benefit from headers though.

Re: Headers?

There are not to many sets of factory manifolds that do not have cracks on them either, but you can still find a non cracked set reasonabily priced.
