Vacuum Ball

Re: Vacuum Ball

I made a vac "tank" out of PVC and stuffed it down at the bottom with my alky pump. Not sure if helps, HVAC stuff still works so I'm happy. If you have nothing else there you could drill a couple of holes and mount the ball to the fender well if you wanted to keep it.

X3 Removed mine almost nine years ago and no issues yet... Completely deleted the vacuum line that went to it when I redid my vacuum lines to clean things up a bit more.

Re: Vacuum Ball

I removed the metal clips/nuts that are used to bolt to the ball to the bottom of battery tray, expanded the holes into slots on the balls mounting tabs/brackets, and mounted it to the inside of the fender using the bolts and holes that the battery tray was using. That's how I mounted mine.....but a week after I did that, I broke the nipple off that the vac line goes onto. If any of that makes sense. Just eliminate it.......I think I will now. Just another option I'd figure I would throw out there.

Re: Vacuum Ball

The cruise control won't function very well without a vacuum reservoir. It doesn't take much throttle at all to get really low vacuum or positive pressure, and the cruise will back off. Someone posted awhile back that their cruise works "just fine" with it removed. I don't believe it.

If you drive your truck long distances, and use the cruise to keep from getting caught in speed-traps, you need a vacuum reservoir. If your truck is always on jack stands, or tends to break before you get very far anyway, you probably don't care about cruise operation.

I have no vac ball and my cruise works fine. I deleted it when I did a vac line kit. I still have the line to the vac ball, but it is plugged.

Re: Vacuum Ball

i live in the flat mid west, no vac ball, cruise works fine if you get up to speed and set it, and no big elevation changes.

works fine here. but i never use it.

Re: Vacuum Ball

I put mine under the stock location, behind the fog light but above the lowest body line. Still works great and completely out of the way.
