432 hp and 632 ft-lbs of torque on Dyno is going to pretty ,much void any warranty on 700r4. IMO it should have lasted loner than that, especially if you didn't even get to boost launch it.

Re: only a matter of time

thats what im going to have to figure out. if he's a decent person he would warranty it.. and give me a new transmission., a good one.. we will see, i've got less than 500 miles on this thing

the wierd part was.. when it went out i was just cruising in 3rd. i was going to hit it for one of my buddies.. and it just wouldn't grab when i got in it. the trans was supposed to be good to 550 hp, it was built with a very powerful truck in mind.

Re: only a matter of time

I wouldn't worry about the hp numbers. They usually don't mean shit. You are putting out a lot of torq and usually that is what will tear up a trans before the hp will. But he should warranty it. If not do a 4l80e and then you shouldn't have any problems. Just my 2 cents.

Hey sorry about the post. After reading it I seem like I am coming off as an asshole. Didn't mean for it to come out that way.

I didn't see anything that was asshole type nature with that last comment...but that's just me. My whole warranty comment was just this: if the guy that built it is worth anything.......he will take care of it. I'm sure you told him the application when you were getting it built. For it to shit the bed with less then 500 miles on it is totally unacceptable.....IMO.

Thanks, and I agree with you 100% that he should replace it. Especially with less than 500mi.

Re: only a matter of time

just spoke with guy, from rockford racecraft. he said that i should know that there is no warranty on parts like that. "that is not backing up your work" at all.

i responded by saying. wow man.... a 4500 dollar transmission and thats how you feel. not cool man

from what i hear i overpaid for the transmission anyways. 4500 dollars for a 700r and no converter. i guess that goes to show you, you don't always get what you pay for

Sucks dude!

What type of trans cooler are you running?

Does an unlocked converter generate more heat than a locked one or do I have that backwards?

Trans are so hit and miss it seems. I have never broke one, but got a friend who went through 5 in a 1 year span.

TH400 and call it a day IMHO. You obviously don't drive it all that much to miss OD anyway

Is there any warranty listing on the website. Also document everything. Times and dates that way you have something to fall back on. Also if he wont warranty it, get a second opinion on the trans. Have somebody reputable(spelling) tear the trans apart and see what went wrong. Make sure he didn't use bad parts. Then check local laws to see how you could go about this. Maybe talk to a court commissioner. See what they say.

HIt up Mike Lee again I know he can help you... i think a th350 is a much easier swap too and Mike sells those parts.

Do you even know what failed?

Who installed the trans?

Re: only a matter of time

I just had my 700R trans built and all of the parts and labor are under warranty. Circle D built the converter and they back their parts up also. It doesn't make since to pay over $3000.00 for a stage 3 or higher and not get a warranty. Surely if it's a mechanical failure and not a user failure they'll take care of you. Hope you get it worked out!

Re: only a matter of time

Does it grab in any gear? I had a fresh 700R4 with a custom built stall and the factory weld broke on the turbine where the spline is internally and it wouldn't grab in any gear unless you revved the engine over 4000 rpm. Had the converter cut open and welded better than the factory and all was well. Not saying this is your problem but maybe your problem could be as simple as this. I was cruising 3rd gear when this happened to me.

Re: only a matter of time

straightline performance installed the transmission when they built the motor and all the other stuff. no i don't know what failed in it.. just happened last night at about 9:00.

first gear is fine, 2nd gear is fine, grabs 3rd. but if you try to accelerate motor just revs, doesn't go anywhere.

Re: only a matter of time

If it feels ok in 1 and 2 and third lets go or you don't have 4th, it has to be their fault. If I were them I would at the very least, tear it open and see what was wrong. It probably wouldn't cost them more than $100 to fix. You got royally raped on that thing. For $4500 you could have done a 4L80 swap. It could be something as simple as a stuck valve in the valve body. To tell you you are on your own after spending $4500 is low life shit IMO weather you were running 200hp or 600hp, that's just plain flat out ****ed up. I wouldn't go back to them in the future and don't get your friends over there.

Re: only a matter of time

If you were told very clearly ahead of time.....NO WARRANTY.....then enough said, but if that's not the case....then they should at least look at it to find out what the problem is before they tell you to go pound sand up your ass especially when it sounds like it is their fault and problem.
