Adding a water line for a DBB turbo...

So how much time and money would I have invested in adding a water line to cool a dual ball bearing turbo? Possibly going with a 6765 dual ball bearing turbo with H cover in a .85 a/r

Probably about $75 max in SS braided line and fittings.

Are you looking at the HP billet compressor wheel?

No, I know someone who has a 6765 turbo with an H cover, 4" in 3" out and its a dual ball bearing turbo. Was originally going to go with a 6567 in the HPQ or GTQ and a billet wheel but if I can get this turbo for a decent price and make it work I'll be happy.

What all is involved in adding a water line. Where does the water line tap into on the truck? Wonder if I could put a bullet wheel in the turbo later on or if I ever get it rebuilt.

the water lines tap in the front edge of the intake and on the block by the starter. since the stock turbo is water cooled its not a lot of work

you do realize our trucks came stock with water cooled turbos right? Just use the existing ports and change the lines over to something a little more "bling" if you wish.

I did not know the stock turbos were water cooled. When I bought my Sy, it already had a upgraded turbo, but the TE45A turbo that was installed was only oil cooled. Now I'm changing some things and trying to clean up the engine bay. Going to a a/a intercooler and a 6765 turbo. Thanks guys. Seems easy enough. Get some nice braided lines and the correct fittings and I should be fine.

Here are some shots of the coolant lines on my PTE6776 BB Turbo incase you need a reference.

I can't find the shots of the water line that goes down to the block. I had a bunch of them but can't find them now. These shots show you the upper one that goes over toward the water pump at the front of the block. You can barely see the one on the side of the turbo that goes down to the block.

I have *a little* less stuff in the way on mine... The fitting in the center of the lower intake is 3/8 X 18 NPT thread. You should have a plug in there. You can see it just below the thermostat housing on my truck (the brass fitting on the side of the intake towards the front):

The other end WILL be a PITA the get to. It's under the truck on the passenger side by the front axle. You will need a 1/4 X 18 NPT threaded fitting for that one. Be prepared to get an antifreeze shower with that one...

Thanks for the info, that pic is a HUGE help. All these beautiful engine bays give me the Syclone fever!

i might have a spare lower intake fitting for your water feed. I won't be able to look until next weekend though.
