What kind of valves are in SyTy's stock?
At what HP do guys swap to severe duty valves?
Thanks

Re: Stock valves?

to my knowledge, the valves in the SyTys are no different than any other S10 4.3L floating around in your local junk yard.

"Severe Duty" is great, but its the size that matters, followed by all the technical aspects of how the valve itself is shaped.

Any larger aftermarket valve will make a difference, I believe going to the 2.02/1.60 combo is still the standard on these trucks, but I would certainly hope you are or have already upgraded to Vortec or aftermarket heads before worrying about what valves you stuff in them.

Re: Stock valves?

Thanks that sorta answers it.
Boost in and of itself won't be an issue. Won't see 25 psi on purpose on my setup.
It's at a certain HP level per CID that you run into problems then.
btw, I'm going to build a clone w/v8 so I don't cut up a real one or have to worry about it getting stolen.
Just another s10 with rims.
After I sell most of my current gen 1 stuff and cars (plural) I'll have enough funds to build one fast nice vehicle in a relatively short time since cash won't be as much of an issue. Just time and motivation + broken stuff.
4L80e, etc....
Probably start with a stock 5.3 LS and build a 6.0 with new bare L92 heads. They flow 325-330 cfm stock!
I think the stock LS guys break pistons before they find out if the valves last.
Still on the fence about pcm/ecm/MS and tuning software. I have a lot of 7730 8d experience but will need to start over with LS stuff.
