Well i have had my typhoon for about 10 months now and i must say i am getting kind of discouraged. I cant figure this thing out.. and every time i think i have something fixed i scan it and its crap.

The thing i cannot figure out right now is why my truck would read 17.4 psi of boost on a stock MAP (says GM on it) and my computer has the factory seal on it. I was under the impression that the stock MAP/Computer would not go beyond 14.7 (ish). I am reading between 6 and 12 degrees of knock (even at low boost) and nothing seems to really change it. What is the highest people have seen with a stock MAP? Is mine malfunctioning? IM SO CONFUSED!

I would add a scan if i could figure out how to add attachments...

thanks in advance for any help/advice.

Re: Noob here... Please help

my computer has the factory seal on it.

My ECM had the factory sticker on it as well (still sealed), but it had the Kenne Bell (Ka-Boom) chip installed. I'd take the top off the ECM just to double check.

Just a heads up GM does make a 3 bar map sensor so that may be why it reads that high and still says GM on it

Re: Noob here... Please help

Sorry i guess i never filled that part out. I am located in Cedar Lake, IN. I have spent HOURS on the link you guys posted. I have already replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, vacuum lines, i have a walbro pump on the way. I tried to email a scan but im using the demo still and i cant do anything with my scans for some reason. I will keep trying... i will go pull the computer back out and see if there is an aftermarket chip in it... will the map say if its 3 bar (although it probably is)

I havent replaced the turbo vacuum lines yet so that is my next step toward fixing the overboosting.

EDIT: The chip is definently stock. BBZA 1576. so.. how could i read 17.4 psi? map sensor reading incorrect?
