Are typhoons still worth more in parts?

I have been toying with possibly selling my Typhoon. The problem is, it is a buyers market and it isn't going to be worth much. I bet I could more in parts which really just pisses me off.

92 typhoon: 112K-ish on body
8k miles on the GM crate engine (I put it in 10 years ago)
waller transmission (about 1k miles?)
9/11 2800-3000 stall?
ultimate with 50#s
ATR 3" cat back
TDH06 20G
Gilbert propshaft
cobra I/C pump
black on black. All cladding in pretty good shape. Interior in nice shape, no damaged leather. Paint is weak.
Typical 17 y/o truck. Very minimal rust. Runs pretty good, been acting funny with WOT in 4th. Starts and runs great. A little TLC and you could probably have a pretty fast truck.

You guys think it would be worth more if I used it as partial trade on another car on another forum somewhere?

IMO, don't take another already rare truck off the road. Enough are already being lost every year due to theft, fire, accidents, etc. I'd say try to sell it as is, and hold out for the right buyer.

I don't plan on it. I'd lose my return in the time I spent removing and shipping the crap. I just wonder when the market will get a little better on them. I am really starting to think that trading could be a way to keep some of the value.

No one knows for sure "if" the market will get better. There is the "20-year factor" - the point when some "collector" vehicles see a sharp increase to their value. We're not there yet.

I hope mine keeps it's value, but I certainly didn't purchase it for that reason. I purchased it for fun and if it tanked even more in value, I'd still love it (when it's running right :lol.

We here also do a lot to set prices. You see trucks listed in the $12K + range on Autotrader. Same truck listed here will sell for $9500. If we as sellers are willing to wait for a bit more money, we can do our small part to keep values up.

I never bought the truck to be a collectible. I bought it as an enthusiast's vehicle.Something rare, turbo AWD, fun. Used to surprise many people back in the day. Now parts are harder to come by, so I am less likely to drive it due to something happening to it. I am just not really into working on cars anymore, and these things require it. 11 years ago when I bought it, that wasn't an issue. I may just sit on it longer and wait for the right replacement to come along. Just looking at other opinions.

It's hard to make a 20 year old truck with 100k on it worth alot of money. Only low mile mints ones hold any real value.

I think one of the big problems is lack of respect and being somewhat forgotten. I also think Tj kind of nailed it on the head as I have noticed the same thing. It almost seems there is an unwritten law around between cheapskates to make everything cost nothing. I see a lot of speculation coming in to play when people here are selling their trucks, I think that is a big reason why a lot are just getting parted out instead of sold as is. Personally, I can't imagine that you make more off parting a truck out by the time you add up the hours you spend and shipping costs and what not.

My post is a little misleading. I am not parting it out, I just hate that the thing is probably worth more that way.

I agree the value will never probably be there. Like I said earlier, I bought this as an enthusiasts truck. Now, I am married with a lot of other things going on in my life, so I have been thinking of going a different direction.

I dont know what marriage has to do with it. Im married with a child and I have one. Hell, I bought the Ty so we could tote the kid around. Of course I didnt realize the care it would need.

It is not what marriage has to do with it. I have had this thing about 11 years, she doesn't care what I do with it. I have a vette and she may be getting a 2 seater also, not really worried about the kid thing for us (I have 7 cars). I just feel it was more fun years ago when I enjoyed working on it and doing things to it. Now it is more of a chore.

I wouldn't ever part it, unless it was to sell off a couple of mods. I may just hang onto it for a little longer. The right trade may come along one day. I saw a white one on ebay from your area.
