Re: Bowling Green SUCKS?????
I'll allow the Syclones and 93 Typhoons. The 92s can go find their own nationals.
Nats3!
Come to the Shindig in 2010 in Savannah GA!
After experiencing the code59 tech session in BG with kids running amok I am not sure having the schedule when kids can attend is even the best idea, but that's bc I don't have kids. lol
I would prefer to see it scheduled when the weather is best for the trucks, after all thats what Nats is all about.
As for the tech session, I think folks thought it was a "mandatory" thing. I was sitting mid-pack and, between kids yelling/running around and people at other tables talking about all kinds of non-code59 things much louder than they needed to, had a VERY hard time hearing what was going on. I'm sure I missed at least half of it - bummer since I'm planning on doing this in the near future and will have to bother these folks more than I should have to.
In the future, perhaps tech sessions can be had in a smaller room with less distractions, and those not interested can find something to do somewhere else? (The hotel has a pool...) I'm not against kids being there, and I'm not expecting a classroom decorum, but - truth be told - not everyone needs to be present for tech sessions. IMHO the large room with lots of distractions kept the tech session from being what it was intended to be. (From what I could tell, the presenters did an AWESOME job!)
Also, parking at the hotel was frustrating. I don't know that we NEED a place with a bigger lot, but [soapbox] if you don't have a SyTy, don't park it with the SyTy's. Trailers, rentals, tow rigs, etc. This wasn't an issue in the past, and I'm not exactly sure why it was this year aside from the limited parking area and folks just scrounging for whatever they could get. Maybe some folks weren't there when Renz announced that folks were supposed to move to the other lot? :dunno: I was trying to get pics for GMHTP's coverage of the Nats, and I had a hard time getting a pic of more than 3 trucks together without something in there that didn't belong. I don't think there will be any hotel pics submitted for magazine coverage. [/soapbox] Assigned spaces!:tup:
I did find the hotel employees very accommodating (aside from Jenna having a b/f), but worth noting is that they didn't have enough rooms for all of us. If the event is to grow, that will become an even greater issue. Yes, there are other hotels within walking distance, but wouldn't it be nice to have everyone together?
The museum was nice. I appreciate their hospitality, but we wouldn't have to do it again as a group event. For future BG Nats I'd include directions on how to get there as a place of interest. I doubt that anyone who went through it this year will go through it again. (Maybe a few will, but not a majority.) I'd much rather see the plant, but I guess we'll see how GM/Corvette/the economy is doing till next event.
Overall, I'm completely in favor of having Nats in BG again in the future. There have always been things that could be tweaked to make the event better for everyone involved (staff included), so please take my suggestions as just that - suggestions.
Again, great job guys!
