I think you need a set of 2" blocks in the back. Maybe a setback plate too, the rims aren't centered in the wheel wells.

Re: My new Syclone....

This thread probably makes a little more sense now. :) Many of you saw it in person at Nats....

suspense...you did it right

how hard was it to make a trailer out of a truck bed, I have wanted to make one for my blazer for a long time but just haven't gotten into doing research on it yet

Re: My new Syclone....

And yes, it does get used. I pull it behind my Jeep all the time. I was telling a few people at Nats, I took it to Best Buy a few weeks ago and picked up my new washer and dryer. As I'm loading them up in front of the store, two guys are walking in and I hear one say to the other, "Check that out, that looks like the back of a Syclone..."

And it was used to go to Nats. It was so full, I couldn't put both supports rods in for the tonneau cover.

Re: My new Syclone....

It's not a Syclone anymore cuz it's only 2-wheel drive...unless you get creative and make it 6-wheel drive.... I would put a fake exhaust tip on it though just to screw people up :D

Honestly, it was a lot more work then I thought. I cut the frame and welded the tounge one. But you also have to add in some crossmembers and supports so it doesn't bend or crack apart going down the road. The biggest pain in the butt was getting the ride height to match the truck, and get the axle centered. When I was making it, I had to guess how much higher the trailer would ride then a truck, considering there's no weight there. I took a good guess, but was still off by a couple inches. If you think the back of a Sy has no weight, there's REALLY no weight after you cut the truck in half. I have 4" lowering blocks in the trailer to make it sit at the same height as my stock truck. If you look at the pict straight from the side, the truck has a 5" drop reciever(top of the reciever to the base where the ball bolts on). Keep in mind the reciever tube is 2", so it's really only a 3" drop. So when I welded the tounge on the frame, it could have been 3" higher. Then I could have used a straight reciever. Either way, not a big issue. The other thing that threw me off, was when it was all done, looking from the front, you could see all the frame and bracing, and it looked like crap, so I made that diamond plate header panel. I want to powdercoat that header panel black, but didn't get to it before Nats.

Re: My new Syclone....

do you know the VIN of that wrecked truck? We could put it in the known destroyed truck list.

Re: My new Syclone....

Isn't there a sticker on the truck, that says something like never intended to tow anything ever? or will result in possible rough idle, engine contact to ground, and a 78% possibility of trans problems? well i guess that's towing or just regular driving:rotf: lol jk that's awesome.
