Tranny Pan?

I'm trying hard to get my Ty back on the road but this tranny job is becoming a headache. I tried 2 tranny pan gasket kits: 1 cork, 1 plastic. Both failed. I even tried a little RTV on the second one, no good. What gaskets work? Do you install them dry?

I've installed them dry or with sealer & I've never had one fail. Maybe you're over-tightening the bolts.
Also, after awhile the bolt holes on the pan will dimple causing a poor seal. Use a hammer a gently tap the bolt holes until they are flat.

It could be over torque, the torque numbers are only something like 8ft-lbs. You could also have bent sheet metal pan as well.

Re: Tranny Pan?

i fought a what i thought was a trans pan leak for months , looked like the pan gasket leaking every time, either the left front corner or right rear corner. turned out to be the grommet around the kick down cable was leaking , wasnt the pan gasket at all. fluid would run down the top edge of the gasket and then drip off the gasket.

What is this "kick down cable" you speak of, did you mod your trans or are you running a th350? The 700r4 trans has a tv cable.
