Some more good passes

Back at the track yesterday. Made some good passes. Not all the same run but here's the best numbers:

60' 1.652
1/8 7.424
1/8 mph 92.42
1000' 9.714
1/4 11.652
mph 116.15

Truck still running rich. Will put up a DM later. Got the meth problem sorted out so IAT's are way down. Might be a little more in it but have to careful. Roll bar required at 11.49

I was thinking I must qualify for some sort of record. Fastest truck with stock exhaust manifolds or, fastest without drag radials or, fastest with oldest driver, maybe fastest with stock IC, or fastest with a 412 cam. :rotf:

Sure having fun though.

Glad to hear the truck is running good ! I hope to get kicked out of my home track once I'm ready to make some passes too .

Nice run. Stock manifolds have been low 10s, IC: mid-10s, 412 cam: low 11s (maybe high 10s), tires: 10s. You might have it on the driver thing. :)

Get it dialed in to 11.20s/11.30s, and soften the launch a bit. You should be able to run that 11.6/11.7 pretty consistently. Be the first guy to go to Pomona in a Sy running in Sportsman. :)

Re: Some more good passes

I love reading how fast your truck runs... We have a very similar build and I've yet to get mine to the track! I was hoping for low 12's but your truck is making think I can get better than that!

ET finals next year are in Sacramento so I plan of competing. Competition will be fierce which it is anyway just more of it because of the central location. I'd be happy just to make onto the Infineon team. But making it all the way to Pomona? Wouldn't that be somethin'. I've talked to people who have competed at the finals at Pomona and It's just an unbelievable experience.

We have a few local guys that have won Div at Topeka, and went on to the big show. I can only imagine.
Better be cutting .00x lights if you're playing at that level.

We've got some really tough competition around here, but it's a good thing.... if you can compete up here, you can really go anywhere and compete.

Re: Some more good passes

you have stock rims and tires? i want to shave down my 60 feet times as well and be able run mid 11's on a 412 but my 60 feet is killing me. nice times!

Re: Some more good passes

I'm sorta curious too... what are you running for tires/tire pressures?

Kumho's. Here's the tire:

http://www.kumhousa.com/Tire.aspx?id=69bd99a0-8036-4395-af36-dfb6b4b089e7&cat=24

Pres. is 30#. I let my neighbor, who has a tire shop, supports racing and knows the truck pick the tire. I'd have to ask him what his exact reasons were for picking this tire.

So far I happy with the tire. very little wheel spin. At Infineon it gets cold quick when the sun sets so I do get some spin when the track cools off and the truck starts making more power. (Makes dial in's a real challenge BTW) And of course on Wed they do no prep that I know of.

Interestingly this truck doesn't like really hard, high RPM, launches. As Dig mentioned I'm gonna bring the launch down some more and see what happens.

Heh.... I just traded for a couple sets of rims/tires, and one of the tire sets are the above. Glad to hear that they hook.

You don't need high launch RPM with the turbo you have.

One thing that I found, was that I actually had to soften the inital WG DC in the ECM (I used stock control) quite a bit, such that it would only hit 17-18 psi at the 1-2, then would go to my normal setpoint. Very similar to what the high HP guys are doing with boost controllers. This would let me leave with more launch boost without breaking them loose.

You need a temp-dependent boost profile.
