I have a stock bore 400 sbc with forged dished pistons, stock bore, Vortec heads long block in west Texas.
Never finished putting it together. 9.1:1 with 64cc and 7.9:1 with stock 400sbc heads if I remember correctly. Also have a set of sbc 400 heads. XE-268 cam. Block is the 2 freeze plug per side version just like the 350.

Igottasy, I thought, like you, that Bob was looking for a .060" over 350 with a 400 crank because that is the only 388 that I know but I talked with him the other day and it turns out he is looking for a 4.3L Bow Tie V6 block ending in 388 casting number.

Sorry Guys should have been more clear. I am looking for a V-6 Bowtie block with the last three digits (388) of the casting number. IGottaSy we used to run those 400 blocks years ago as you stated they looked like a 350 and you could hide the Cubic inches if you internally balanced the motor.

Guys,
Not sure if anyone has a DIRECT line to Santa Clause but if you do let him know that I am still looking for a Block. In addition I have been Extremely good this year so that should count for something.
Thanks,
Bob

Bob,

Do you feel like the reproduction block would be too much work to make it suitable for your application? Not sure if you're planning to go wet or dry sump...

Search all of Craigslist. There is an SG1 block for sale on there. It's a marine application. Don't know if that is any different from an automotive one.

IGottaSy,
Thanks for posting the link as I don't have/Use Face book. Does anyone have the details on this? I would bet it is a Odd fire motor with Pontiac heads.
Thanks,
Bob

Yes Sir talked with him a while back about his stuff. Both blocks have had the pan rails cut in such a way that it requires special oil pans to be built and I didn't want to get involved in that. Thanks for looking for me.
