Re: bay area shop.

what is your compression readings?
what is your vacuum reading at idle?
is your vacuum reading steady, or does the needle fluctuate/bounce?
the spark plugs, do the foul out on one bank or both?
the plugs, are they wet fouled?
is it a constant misfire or intermittent?
did you do a cylinder leakdown test?
you could replace the intake gaskets, upper and lower ones
get a block tester, basically will tell you if you have a blown headgasket

Comprssion test 150-165

vacuum is 19.45 on the dm. It will go from 18.5-19.5 at idle. but not move around a lot.

As far as I know gaskets are stock.
carb cleaner test came back nothing.

plugs are dry fouled. and varries on which plug. Most common are 2,4 and 1. first time 1 did it. next time 2 and 4 did it. This time 2,4,6 are good and I have yet to pull 1,3,5 because of the heat and I am tired of this.

missfire only when hot. at night it runs longer before it misses. with the heat now it starts up after 10 min of driving.

no leak down test yet.

When FP is set to 35psi the missing stops but I see 15* of KR.

block tester?? where to buy.

I am thinking of doing a mild rebuild. I have 10k to spend but I want everything done for me. I just want to drop it off and pick it up. Not sure if thats enough to do it??? any local shops could do this.

Re: bay area shop.

Im just curious is that 10K just for the motor or for the motor, tranny, and anything else that comes along?? And what promps you to want a solid 11sec as apposed to being able to say I'm in the 10 sec. club. Just curious if you feel like answering my ramblings.

" Tom D. 1993 GMC Typhoon COMPLETED "
Toms quote :
"I am so happy with it Mike, you have no idea!!! I had no idea it would look and sound so awsome. The truck now runs harder on 16psi then it did before with 24 psi and 100 shot of nitrous. It is running stronger than ever!" -Tom

Why dont you give mike a call ?

Re: bay area shop.

10k for motor and anything motor related. Trans has a fresh 3k rebuild. I have a 2800 stall. I have the phill chip and 50# injectors I want to keep and build around that. RPS said a 10 second car will cost 15k+. I figure a pistons, rods, rings, head, lifters,cam,rods,rockers... turbo , alky,a2a would get me into the 11's easy. I mostly want a good running solid truck. I will talk to tom and give them a shot. I want to find the problem, fix it and at least do a head job, a2a and alky.

Re: bay area shop.

my suggestion is to search for the recommeded parts listed for a mild build and acquire these parts and have them do the labor.

heres what i recommend in a nutshell:
-A2A by rpm or turbotime
-PTE52 w/ turbotime downpipe(will be made soon)
-JE or SRP pistons
-Eagle rods
-4bolt main caps
-high volume oil pump
-L35 heads w/mild work
