What brakes will clear 15 inch wheels?

First off, let me apologize if this subject has been covered, but the search function discards short entries like "15".

Ok, so the situation is, for drag racing purposes, I will be running M/T E.T. Drag Radials on 15 inch rims. I would like to be able to upgrade the brakes front and rear to both hold more boost for launches, and actually stop the truck, but I need to be able to clear the 15 inch rims.

Has anyone crossed this bridge before?

just use the 15s in the rear, stock drums will clear just fine.

I would just do larger wheel cylinder in the rear. For the fronts, you can use the newer dual pistons caliper (and swap spindles) or you can use the SSBC caliper which bolts on the stock spindles.

As for recommendations. I have driven the newer S-series and didn't notice anything great about the brakes, but I didn't push them either. I haven't driven a truck the SSBC calipers.

I do know the Baer 16" and Ls1 brakes kits make a dramatic difference in braking. They will not fit 15" wheels, though.

So no disc kits that will fit the rears? I'm just expecting to have to slow this thing down from some decent speeds, and drums instinctively scare the crap out of me. ;)

10" or 11" disc will fit. I imagine the disc brakes that the 2nd gen S-series would work. In most cars the fronts do 75% of the braking. I would guess in Syclone (pickup with little weigh in the rears) versions, the front brakes do closer 85% of the braking. The front in SyTy are so under sized that that is where you will get most of your gains.

Use the stock size drums/discs. Add the 7/8" rear wheel cylinders. Get a set of cheapie
organic pads/shoes.

If you have your TC sized properly, you won't have trouble holding boost. I can hold 17-18
psi with the above setup and a 2900 stall 9/11.

If you're really intent on better holding, do a search here for hydroboost.

Max stopping power is a different beast. Holding power != stopping power.
If you're looking for both, it's going to cost a lot more.
