I had my turbo installed by my local shop and they set the turbo psi to 6lbs and told me that I would have to adjust it myself, well I left it that way till I put my Blitz SBC I-DIII on so that I could controle and moniter boost better. Now my question is how would I go about adjusting the boost on the turbo??? It has an enternal acctuator with the blitz contoller... Thanks for any help...

IF YOU LIKE IT LOUD, i would install it on the crossover, or buy an downpipe that is made for an extnal wastegate

shorter rod, more boost. longer rod less boost. what PSI actuator do you have? whatever it's psi that what you need to set it to. then turn on your boost controller and adjust the psi with it. thats what they make them for.

Re: Pte61?????

i could't control boost with the actuator, tried 2 actuators, even with an extension between the rod, and having the flapper open would still give me boostkreep

Did they have to mod your intake? can you take some pics and post? Good luck with the new setup.

I got the turbo from turbotime along with the pte downpipe, so it had the actuator all ready on the turbo.. I should of asked when I bought it but I didnt know any better at the time... If I went to a shorter rod where would I be able to ge one???? If I do go with n external any suggestions on which type to get????

you can shorten the rod, just take a look, make it loose from the flapper, and spin it

I was looking at it yesterday and there is a nut holding what looks like a sleeve in place, I loosened the nut but the sleeve doesnt move.. Another question can you bypass the internal acctuator or does it have to be removed if I go to an external wastegate??

Re: Pte61?????

weld the flapper shut, but you should try if the actuator is working for you by shorten the rod, it should be possible

This pic is how the buick guys modify their actuators to make them adjustable. The only difference is, part #3 and #4 are one piece, and inside that piece are threads that allow shortening or legnthing the rod. We only have one #5, which is simply a locking nut to run up once you have the length adjusted.

You have the swingarm (pivot) that is connected to the puck. If you take off the cotter pin and pull that actuator arm off, that swingarm should swing open and closed freely. Set it for ~7/8 overlap, you will have to pull the actuator rod out slightly to put the eyelet over the post...spring pressure is now holding the puck closed.

Shorter rod=more pressure holding puck shut=higher boost

My guess is the shop probably just left the rod long since your at 6psi.

Its always a good idea to get some high octane in there while doing ANY testing of boost control.

Re: Pte61?????

most of the pte kits have a base pressure of around 14-15psi, so it sounds like you either have a leak in your intercooler pipng, or the puck is not even trying to seal on the housing.

If you pull off the cotter pin, and the actuator arm does not freely slide off, chances are the puck is already preloaded which means it should be making more then 6psi, so you may have a loose clamp or hose connection.. double check the turbo/ic hose if using the factory intercooler as the fit is marginal at best due to the higher placement of the compressor discharge.

I know I dont have a leak I did a pressure test numerous times and I have taken care of all of those... The info kwik gave me should help if it doesnt then Im just an idiot... I hope I can figure it out..

Re: Pte61?????

FWIW i have the same turbo and mine is 15 psi with no boost control. also, i don't want to steer you away from the external gate because others have obviously had problems but my boost is rock solid with the pte internal gate.

Re: Pte61?????

another thing, my rod is set right right in the middle, not too short or too long. you will see what i mean when everything is loose.
