Part Numbers for Knock Sensor & Harness

Does anyone have the part numbers handy for the Knock Sensor and its harness? I am getting false knock, and want to try the front-mounted sensor option (with its own wiring harness).

Thanks and regards,

one option is to disconnect the original one, buy a new one, install it and run it to the ECM.

That's what I was hoping to do. Doesn't the knock sensor have its own dedicated harness to the ECM (separate from the main harness)? IIRC, that is how it is represented in the manual. I was hoping to buy that "knock sensor harness" as well as a replacement knock sensor, so I could just make the connection at the ECM (and leave the original sensor & harness in place except for the connection at the ECM). Will this work? Anybody know what the part numbers are?

Thanks,
Michael

make a switch between the excisiting setup and the new setup you are connecting, so you can read wich one gives you more knock or less, i did this and cut a connector off of an old truck, and soldered that onto the new wire i routed from the ECM to upfront

The "harness" is a single wire with knock sensor plug. Take your wire on the existing sensor and lengthen it. As for PN, the Wells number is SU169. Dunno what that might getcha in a GM part number interchange.

Is that Wells number for the sensor or for the harness?

Thanks,

Re: Part Numbers for Knock Sensor & Harness

In case anyone wants to go the same route, the GM part number for a "harness repair kit" for the knock sensor connector is 12102621. It includes the connector and a short length of wire (plus a shrink/crimp splice).

I am still getting some knock counts, even with a new IC pump and 100 octane gas. The counts only come on the shifts, so I suspect it is noise in the trans. I will try the front knock sensor location and see if it improves.

Thanks and regards,
Michael
