The 1% variable

HELL YEA I GOT BOOST!
I caught this on another thread and am curious as to the validity......

It said "So he is within 1% difference. He will be fine."...and he was talking about difference in tire sizes....so my question is, where did this information come from. I'm not trying to start anything.....don't get me wrong......I'm just curious as to how accurate this might be.

Thanks.....

Re: The 1% variable

he was speaking of overall tire diameter when using different sized wheels (17" front and 18" rear). If you do the math of the closest tires, they are within 1% of each others overall diameter.

Re: The 1% variable

Yes......I understand this. I guess my question was really who says this is ok to do, to have this much of a variable.....or any variance for that matter? Was there any kind of literature to this from BW?

Re: The 1% variable

well one would hope 1% wouldn't be enough to cuase problems considering tire inflation or tire wear could account for 1% difference

Re: The 1% variable

I suppose.........

As I said.....just trying to satisfy my own curiosity. I'm one that would like to run the 18's in various sizes.

I'd just hate to blow the t-case in the process........lol

Anyway......thanks for the input.

Re: The 1% variable

Well think about it. Normal wear and the tires aren't within 1%. Burn it off and it won't be within 1%. I wouldn't worry about 1%.
