Re: Bring the Nats to Michigan

We were actually talking about this over the weekend at Nats.

To get GM and ex-PAS employees involved you would pretty much HAVE to hold it in their backyard.

Everyone wants it moved closer to them but for it to move it has to be financially reasonable as well as have enough members local to put forth the planning effort.

Wherever it goes will be entirely up to the folks planning it for next year.
I will be there wherever it ends up. (truckless if it goes to CO  )

Michigan would be good for me, but definatlly not the same weekend as the cruise, think that would be too crowded imho.

Re: Bring the Nats to Michigan

...pardon my ignorance on such matters, but Im wondering if:

-one, or several of the chassis builders mentioned on this site (like the ones Marty, Gerber,
or yourself visit) would show up as a vendor if the event was held in their stomping grounds (Michigan)?
Even a tour of their facilities would even be cool.

-doesnt Jim Stokes, also live (or perhaps others with past ties to PAS) live in MI?

-arent their proving grounds, or autocross facilities nearby that would make an interesting
addition to dragracing?

-would "more" magazine coverage be possible? Or do magazines prefer a
SyTy Nationals vs SRT-10 vs Lightning challege?

-and lastly (really showing my novice knowledge of MI) isnt Michigan International Speedway
nearby (as a possible tour site). I know the viper community occassionaly does laps
at Indy as a "one-time enjoyment".

<thinking out loud>

Not sure about you all, but this past weekend went VERY fast and I did not get to talk and chat with everybody I wanted to. Having all these "other" vacation activities would just seperate the syty group and be totally against what the nats is all about. Which involves a parking lot and a group of people with similar interests. My .02.

Depends where we hold It, we could hold it at the track or If I move to my new house by then we could have it in my yard (30 acres)
nats could be turned into a longer event like wed-sunday

Re: Bring the Nats to Michigan

What would be awesome if any of the Ex-Pas employees would just come to the event no matter where it was, not necessarily only be involved if it was conveniently located close to them.

I have sent packets to W2W every year the past 4 years and never gotten any type of response.

Guess we will have to wait and see what the planning committee decides on for next year.
