how can it have a crate vortec motor and the stock intake. something had to be done to put it all together they dont just bolt up. you will also need the right head gaskets.

Re: DataMaster Tuning

whatever the seller is telling you, he is obviously confused.. you need to get every detail you can from him and then decide if this is the right truck for you.

Re: DataMaster Tuning

interesting.. missing AC.. painted intakes..

i would be scared of the motor.. just because he doesn't seem to know what he is talking about.. or he just went with whatever he could get as cheap as he could get.

Re: DataMaster Tuning

unless the intake has welding on it(would indicate a true vortec head) you have either stock heads or L35 heads and covers. just cause it says vortec on the valve cover, it doesnt mean the heads are truely vortecs

38k miles, rusty brake booster, wrong engine, missing AC, rusty relay, something doesn't seem right.

I went out to see it this weekend, right now i am trying to contact the guy who put the motor in to find out what exactly is in the truck. the current owner says its a GM long block

Oh BTW, that mileage is true, says carfax.

Well, one way to approach this is the the following.

1.Ask the current owner if it has a new so call GM short block? If he said no than.

2.Ask for a invoice to show what was done and where? If he says I don't have one than RUN, DON'T WALK - AWAY.

They could have bought Vortec Crate motor and swap on the stock LB4 heads. Its been a long time since any GM crate motor will be the correct motor.
