EDIT: with the new Belkin adapter it works. I used 10 recordings trying to get the thing to connect before i got the right adapter :tdown: I would recomend this, it worked, first try.
i got the belkin USB adapater; ill be trying it out today, ill let you know if that helps.jbonehead85 said:

Sorry about digging this post up, but I have a usb to serial adapter and it doesn't work. I used to run datamaster off of my old laptop which had a serial port. I had no problems with it. Now with my new laptop I have this usb to serial adapter and i can't get it to sync. When I test it, it comes back ok, but with the unsupported PCM message. It is the right datamaster version for syclone/typhoon. I even downloaded the newer version 3.5.1 for sy/ty and still nothing. I don't want to go buy the belkin adapter after buying this one. I tried adjusting the serial comm settings like it says in the manual. Still no luck. I guess I can always use the old laptop. Am I wasting my time trying to get this to work with the usb adapter? Can anybody point me in the right direction.

I read through the new Datamaster Manual. Apparently most usb adapters won't work properly. They recommend the belkin adapater and even then it's not guaranteed to work. There is a funky baud rate of 8192 and will not communicate with the PCM properly. I think I'll just keep that old laptop lying around for datamaster with the serial port.
