Fuel Pump Hanger Assembly

Sorry for the noobie question:

Is the hanger assembly the component that the fuel pump is mounted on, INSIDE the tank along with the locking ring?

The how-to bit of the archives says drown under a wax coat - any kind of wax?

I have seen people say that their hangers are corroded and replacement is recommended.

Can anyone shed some more light?

thanks - I got that.

I looked in the parts manual and came up with a few options:


25028845 - Typhoon performance package according to parts manual - not on GMparts anymore
25027771 - just the sender - $200 according to GMparts direct.

I thought this component was standard? i have ordered the locking ring for this but I am still waiting on the damn sender from a couple of vendors on here. They've shipped but I need them this weekend so I can do the work with a friend who is a car expert. (On TVRs at least!)

All I want is the hanger - I've got a walbro 255 to go in instead of the stock unit. Otherwise it will have to be another weekend...
