Well, I spent the majority of the day cutting out my ceiling in the Ty.
Water all over the interior. Seems I found the source of my rust as well. The guy I bought my Ty off of was the original owner and he had an ASC sunroof put in at the dealership.....Crap. I mean CRAP job. The fittings are 5/8" on the tray of the sunroof....They took 3/8" vinyl tubing, heated it up and pushed it onto the fittings. Then they ran it up....higher than the outlet on the tray....then they smashed it flat with the interior pieces(big ones) in the back. So it had been draining out the front 2. The problem was we had 3 1/2" of rain last night and the front ones couldn't keep up and it filled the back of the Ty up with water. It must've been leaking just a little all the time.
The kicker was, where they ran the tubing in the rear, it didn't go outside. They stuck the tubes in holes in the rear corners and just dangled them down behind the boxed in area where the tailights are....all the panels come together and are pinch welded back there. Needless to say, the floor in the back under the carpet is covered in a thin coat of sand from road debris running down the side walls and into the floor. I had to drill 5/8" holes in the floor in the back corners where it will be covered by the trim. I'm disappointed to say the least. I have rust all across the top in the back and around the windows. I had an allover paint job 6 years ago. Now it looks like I'm gonna have to pull the windows out and do it again. I never would've thought anyone installing a sunroof would've done what they did.
I'll put pics up showing where to drill if you have a sun roof and your running the lines out the rear.
Done ranting now.
