Re: knocklite from turboxs ?

you need to use another knocksensor with it.
i thought about using it, the nice thing about it that it learns itself to not see false knock

Re: knocklite from turboxs ?

it is nice, just get a 2 wire knocksensor for a impreza or so, and use it with that,

can someone please have a heart and to explain me , i mean for DUMMIES

... that " 4049U chip" - is it additional, or what ?
anyone with that led running got pics for me, please ???

Re: knocklite from turboxs ?

Basically, the 4049U chip acts as a switch to close the circuit, and activate the LED when it receives a signal from pin #33 on the ESC chip on the memcal. The LED loop also has a 1kOhm resistor in series to reduce the amount of current through the LED.

The 4049U chip looks as if it is something that you'd have to order. This looks like a plan to build your own knock indicator light with the chip, resistor, and LED.

wow, now things come clear

another kwik Q :

how do i "connect" those lines (i think they're cables, aye) to the pins of the ESC ?

TIA, pat.

I'm not sure as I've not dealt with this circuit physically yet, but I'd assume you'd have a place to put the wire, and solder it in place. If you're considering doing this, I'd buy a circuit building hobby kit. It'll have practice boards to build, and some of the stuff is pretty cool.

Re: knocklite from turboxs ?

... thx for the reply, man

when DM is running, the knocklite shouldn't be that important  but would be a nice gimmick IMO
... but first things first, i need to get it started :steamer:

Re: knocklite from turboxs ?

Yeah, the chip is a hex inverter. This circuit only uses one of the 6 inverters in the chip, so there's probably a way to do it with transistors or something else instead, but I don't know anything about that.

I was going to try making and selling these (since shipping is more than the parts if you're buying the stuff for just one) as a Plug n Play kit, but you do have to hook it to your MEMCAL somehow. If you have an Ultimate or similar chip with the piggyback adapter board, you can tie into the pins for piggybacking the stock chip. If you have a standard MEMCAL in the ECM, you'll need to solder to the MEMCAL pins or the pins on the ECM or something - not very PnP...

This is a very basic knocklight, but it is very handy when you don't have your laptop hooked up. At least you'll get a warning if something bad is happening.
