I'm taking my engine apart and I need to supprt it from underneath while I remove the manifolds , turbo, and accessory brackets. It is now sitting on some tires on a palate. The palate is sitting on top of a dolly that raises up to 2 feet. Any suggestions on making a quick support or engine mount out of 2x4 's to support the engine while i remove the above items. I would also like to take out all the guts of the engine and take it off the dolly if possible
thanks,
janeto

You can take a couple of 2x12 cut the length of the oil pan or a little longer and mount them on your pallet. Cut a couple of 2x4 the width of the oil pan + the width of the 2x12s and fasten them on the end of the 2x12s. Just leave the pallet on the floor for the take apart.

It's called an engine stand. You can get them for something like $30 at your local parts store. Why risk supporting that kind of weight on some 2X4 contraption?

I didn't think he was for a engine stand due to the cost. That why the cheap answer :rotf: so he can have a Red Neck Engine Stand :rotf: .

Hee HAW!!!!!!!! Dats jus wat i need ...a redneck engine stand.
I'm going ou today to buy a stand from the auto parts store. What ii really needed was to support the underside of the pan/engine so I don't strees the headers/crossover while the engine sits on tires,on a palate
Thanks for the responses guys
