Tempelate for exhaust manifold to turbo for port matching?

Has anyone made, or does anyone know of a tempelate for the exhaust manifold to turbo port matching? If anyone has made one and could fax or email me something so I could print it out, that would be awesome. I don't get the turbo til Monday and I can start some grinding if anyone has ever drawn it out. (I'll have a PTE60 Dual Ball Bearing if that makes any difference.) Kind of a long shot, I know, but figured I'd ask.

I would not port it until you make a template of your manifold.
They might vary?
I know my friends was different than mine. Close but not exact.

just look at the carbon deposits and use that as your template

what are the gains to this

Mike, I'm talking about opening up the exhaust manifold where it bolts to the turbo. I have a PTE60DBB coming.

Ryda85, opening that stuff up makes things flow better.

I'd just make one out of cardboard or something from the largest of the two. I'm assuming that this PTE turbo has a T3 flange, so I'd get one made up from the manifold, and see how it looks on your new turbo. If your turbo inlet is bigger, make one from there and port your manifold. Hopefully your turbo is smaller so you don't need to pull your manifold... PITA!

Yup, I'm assuming the turbo will be larger. I was thinking I might not have to take the manifold off if I shove a couple paper towels down there while I do the grinding, then vacuum all around them, then pull the paper towels back out. Think it'll work?

When my friend had a TDO6 H 20G turbo.
He could only make 2 psi of boost pressure,(stock converter)
After he port matched the turbine housing (no other changes) he was able to boost 4 psi almost five.

I did it to my stock turbo & my 12 CM housing. It improved my et's.
Every little bit helps. ;)
One thing I noticed,,, I had to do a lot more porting on my 12 CM housing than the stock housing.

That's sweet. Now if only someone made an aftermarket crossover. I think something like that in itself would be quite helpful.

Make one. Get some gasket material, or a chunk of cardboard from a case of Pepsi.
Lay the cardboard over the exhaust manifold opening, take the ball end of a ball-peen hammer, and tap around the edges of the openings, including the bolt holes. This will
make a custom template that you can use to open up the turbo side.

Word of advice... take out as little material as possible/necessary. Start with a carbide bit
a die grinder, and finish with a cartridge roll or a sanding drum on a dremel. You want a
smooth transition from the flange to the turbine entrance. Don't waste your time on a
smooth finish... 60-80 grit finish is fine.

I think you're probably safe doing the napkin stuff and vacuum maneuver. As long as the pieces that you miss are small, they won't do any damage to a WG or turbine wheel.

Yea, what dig said about the texture of the surface... it doesn't have to be smooth. Actually, air flows better over scuffed surfaces than it does over smooth ones. Thats why when you see ported head and intake manifolds, you can see the lines where someone used a die grinder. I could get into why, but this isn't physics class.
