Selling or offering parts to the board?? My rant, sorry guys.

Well I have had a problem with 3 people trying to buy / sell stuff in the F/S section in the last week or so. First off, let me say that I do understand that there is time involved in "contacting and sending pic's and reply's", that we are all busy and have a full plate (most of us anyway) and that along with last minute disasters at work, home, the future Ex to be, our children and the fact that sometimes we just make a mistake, it can create problems. With that being said, folks should also under stand that if you are going to offer to sell or buy items, every effort should be made to "be a stand up guy or gal" and do it right!

If you know that you don't have time, then don't waste ours and don't offer to sell here or during your busy time because you know we all have question or want pic's or both. If your computer challanged and can't post or e-mail pic's, then just say so in your thread. Give a good desc. and a "on a 1 to 10 I rate it a XX" or what ever. If you don't take paypal then say that up front because some of us have been burned so many times we won't send checks or M.O.'s unless we know you personally or your close enough that I can have my brother serve the arrest warrent in person  . If you won't ship via this carrier or that carrier or won't ship at all (pick up only) then let us have that info up front so WE DON"T WASTE YOUR OR OUR TIME! Be up front, then we all know. If you post and then somthing comes up, take a few seconds to let people in your thread know you have a problem or delay and we will understand, I mean after all most of us are not your wife or G/F, no ten mile long explaination required just a quick note to the thread! If you post as a seller or buyer it's the same thing, a little common courtesy not mention if you start acting like a full blown flake before you have our money, what can we expect AFTER you have our money? On second thought, maybe this guy deserves E-Gay?

This guy Mkid has hosed a bunch of us on his bogus F/S thread :bigfinger and man I am pissed because 1. I put off another guy for the same parts at a cheaper price who is not a board member because I want to help out our members first and hope that you would help others (what we should all be doing I think) and 2. I thought being a member for a few years ranked a little trust / respect and mabey a few more bucks due to that, guess not! So now I contact the fella back that I put off and he tells me "sorry man, sold it last night". God damn it! It's a good thing that I am not close to this guy because I feel absolutly MEDIEVAL right now. On top of all this he replies http://www.syty.net/forums/private.php?do=showpm&pmid=182240

After he quotes the price and I accept it and post SOLD in his thread and in a PM to him and QUICKLY. Sorry guys but when it's offered, I ask how much then agree to the price and say sold.... that's a commitment to me or at least the way I was raised anyway. I would feel bound as the seller to sell and bound as the buyer to follow through and buy.

We all want to sell or trade things from time to time and we all want to buy things from time to time but there is a right and a wrong way to do it and this is to me the wrong way for sure. I don't like to see anyone get the short end of the stick but this guy has caught me at a time when I am having trouble with several other purchases / sales, has wasted sevral other good members time including mine AND cost me the chance to get the parts I need. What a F****** Looser :chair: ! It looks like he is checking out and selling out, good thing too because I am tempted to call Dog House vote. In fact I may do it anyway just in case he tries to ever come back. Good luck on E-Gay Mkid, I hope all your buyers treat you like you treated us. What goes around, comes around :2cents: .

Sorry boys, it's hard enough to deal with the trucks due to age, condition, parts availability etc. and then this kind of crap too. I'm just fit to be tied and this jerk just happened to be the one who pulled my pin :1gun: .

Apologies to you fellas, rant concluded.

Here's something for buyers. If someone tells you up front that they won't accept paypal, or won't ship carrier XYZ, DON'T BITCH ABOUT IT. Some of us won't accept paypal because we've been screwed or know someone who has been screwed buy crapass buyers. If you don't like the seller's terms, find someone else to buy from.

This is nonsense....when you're trying to buy something on the net you need to understand something....asking for a price or a pic doesn't mean(i'm going to buy this item). if that was the case all of my stuff would be sold.... period.

get over it dude...i didn't rip you or anyone else off or even close to it. your taking this to the extreme.

Not a problem and I agree....... just say it up front so all are aware and no one wastes either parties time. I think it kinda goes back to being up front about terms. Paypal ain't the best I agree but that's a whole other topic.

Your very right, asking for a price doesn't contitute a sale. Offering a price (not once but twice) and having a very quick reply both PM'd and posted saying SOLD, well you call it what you want.

I am over it, also you and your parts too. Problem is, you wasted me and the other guys time and I lost out on parts I needed because of YOU and your attitude toward us here on the board. Read your own posts and the posts of the others involved. You don't seem to think posting all this stuff for sale then jerking us around, throwing it on E-GAY after folks commited to you is a big deal? Fine that's your opinion and you are entitled to it, just like I am to mine (and it seems several of the other guys too, I guess we are all crazy?). You cost me parts and time, in a way that = money (not much and I ain't gonna sweat it) but hey you have made your choice and obviuosly feel good about it by your comments so that's cool. As you stated in your post "collectively dealing with the members here became a problem" and you can't anwser questions or get back with people that want to put money in your pocket but........ you sure can check these posts now and reply back? Yea, right! Like I said, I'm over it and you.

I posted this in the hopes that others will think about how they conduct themselves for the sake of all the "stand up members". Have a nice E-bay :rotf: .

Re: Selling or offering parts to the board?? My rant, sorry guys.

A couple hints to buyers from a seller that Ive learned since doing my garage sale.....

READ THE GOD DAMN ADD COMPLETELY!!!

1. Just to clarify the above....If I include my zip code and the wording "my zip is 24101 for shipping calculations" this means the potential buyer needs to get an idea on what shipping costs will be and dont f'n PM/email me with "whats shipping to XXXXXX zip?. Get off your lazy keyboard ass and type it in yourself since Im busy boxing up/shipping crap and dont have time nor the desire to do it for you. Unless youre shipping an engine block or other large/heavy object then shipping charges arent going to break anyone up...if it is then the last thing you need to do is buy car parts.

2. When its clearly stated TWICE in the add that the seller doesnt do business with paypal dont email/PM the seller asking "whut is ur paypal addy?". It just makes the seller (me) want to mapquest your addy, drive there with said parts, and beat the F outta you with em.

I swear...Id rather sell something for $10,000 rather than go through the aggravation of selling something for $20 since the flakes crawl out of the wood work for the $20 item.

Back to your regularly scheduled thread...I need to finish painting the hall and dont have time to get on a soap box today.

Let's not go there...

There are some flaws in the way we all go about buying this on this board. I have been in some of these positions many times in the past. It puts the seller in a impossible position and most of the time it's a no win. I always have parts for sale, but because of what sellers go through it is just painful to post them on the board. I usually wait till someone calls me for something or if someone posts for something that I have , then I PM them.

Here are some of my past buying pains...

1) Someone posts parts for sale. I reply that "I am interested, how much and where do you live" I get a PM that tells me "it is already sold" and that someone PM'ed or e-mail them prior to my first reply. I have had this happen to me so many times that now I just PM or e-mail them first and put the time and date in the message.

2) Someone posts a part for sale and I reply "I will take, but I have a couple of questions that need answered first". I give my questions at the same time. After not getting any answer back for hours or days, I get a PM that someone else bought it.

3) Someone posts several parts for sale and I reply "Dibs, I'll take it. Where do I sent $. Do you take Paypal?" I hear nothing for hours or days. Get reply " Sorry man, but I sold everything to one guy".

I had a seller tell me once that he wanted to sell the part to me, but someone else farther down the line just paypal'ed him anyway, even though he was told that someone else was ahead of him.

There a dozens of stories to add to this from most everyone one the board. Maybe a good way to vent and feel a little better would be to add your own stories on how you scarfed or lost a deal on the board.

The raw truth of the deal is that it is almost impossible to sell something on this board without someone else feeling that they got beat out. Sometimes it's timing, sometimes the seller realizes a friend wants the part (even though didn't have first dibs), sometime "dibs means to stall and see if they can find some $ to pay for it, instead of actually meaning "I take it", many deals are done through PM or E-mail instead of a "Reply". You can be the first in line by PM'ing, only to have a seller say I took the first one that "Reply'ed", etc.

As a board we all need to be thankful that seller's post things here for us. We all know that the e-bay competition is a hassel and we have to wait for days as well as go through some of their BS. It's ok to express displeasure on the board if we don't feel we got what we wanted or thought we should have gotten, but let's stop at that and go on like James just did. If we start hammering sellers...there will be fewer of them on this board.
I know Malik had his hands full trying to keep everyone straight. He also works all day and couldn't get back to people until the evening. He also had many PM's and e-mails as well as "reply's". What's right or wrong in everyones eyes, regarding any seller...kinda doesn't matter sometimes...until a seller tells someone he can have it and accepts $ (or writes a contract), it is always his to do with what he wants. And each buyer or missed buyer has a right to decide his own feelings...

Clone1, I am sorry that you missed the TC. I PM'ed Malik before the first post was entered. The motor, trans and tc were gone before most people knew they were for sale. Malik had my time as first (early morning) when he got home from work that night. That was the first I heard from him. There is a slight chance that I may do a Turbo 400 trans in the sy I am working on instead of the 700r4. If that is the case and you are still in the market. I give you first offer to buy it.

Malik does not deserve to be rubbed on the board...we all know how things get off track. Let's all be glad we have seller's on here. Heck, I'll have a bunch of parts after my builds are done...I may just put them on the board this time!

The guy the feels the worst is Malik himself. He didn't want to sell this suff in the first place. He loved his Ty...just can't take it with him to Spain.

Re: Selling or offering parts to the board?? My rant, sorry guys.

Well said John. I've had this same problem happen a few times. I don't sweat it though. I for instance saw a local guy post his items for sale. I pm'd him within 1 minute. Waited for a reply and guess what. Never got one. The post was updated till the next day that items were sold. Whatever man. Parts will turn up sooner or later. If fellow board members act like that. It's best just to not deal with them in the future.

Re: Selling or offering parts to the board?? My rant, sorry guys.

Here's my suggestion on the whole "for sale" drama.....Any seller only sells in the order of those who reply publicly to his/her FS ad commiting to buy (or calling dibs). That way, there is NO questions as to who called who first, PM'd first, emailed first, etc since we can all see the evidence. If the sale doesn't move forward in 24 hours, they move on to the next party on the thread. Sad to say, I know of one occasion where I definately had dibs on some NICE stuff but the seller was contacted privately and offered $250 more AFTER I was promised the items and payment was on the way. Seller emails me and apologizes that he had a phone message that came in before my thread response???? I just happen to know who got the parts instead of me and how they got them :(. I guess there will always be greedy unethical people in the world but folks around here should stand by their word. I do, and I think the majority on here do as well, but there are some scabs that need to fall off and go away.

Re: Selling or offering parts to the board?? My rant, sorry guys.

John, If you decide to contact via pm, thats fine . As I posted in the fs thread I did'nt see anybody post about the tc, so I thought I was gravy.win some -lose some. Im not bitter bout it, but a quick pm or e-mail saying tc sold would've been nice. I didnt need any pics, paypal or anything special. If the part was still for sale I would've gone straight to the post office and sent the money order like I have in the past with the few parts I have bought from members. Maybe the DH vote thing was a little extreme, and I should'nt be bashing people just because I misses out on a kick ass deal. Its not the end of the world for me w/o a good priced tc. Like I said win some lose some. BTW i appreciate you giving me 1st crack at the tc if you decide to sell it.
