ran my fastest time

i went to the strip last night and ran my quickest time yet. 10.37. i know you turbo awd guys are laughing, you can stop now :D . i think it was a fluke though i ran 2 more passes like an hour and a half later and it was running 10.50s again. my first three passes were all 10.40s. i guess the change in temp caused it slow down, but it seems like with it cooling down it would have helped my times not hurt them. oh well had fun thats all that matters.

and as for kills the only kill i had was a v6 mustang, i think i hurt the guys feelings :rotf:
i did see a brand new viper get his ass handed to him by a civic hatchback, that makes the whole trip worth while. :rotf:

quit pickin on me

yeah thats the eighth, it aint to bad for pretty much a bone stock truck. all it has done is an electric fan and a shift kit. it also has the wrong fuel pump, so the fuel pressure is way to low, its hard as hell to get started. i plan on putting an inline walbro on it soon, that should fix that problem. the next upgrades will be an ignition upgrade (ignition box(mallory probably, havent decided), msd cap, rotor, and coil, taylor wires, and probly ngk plugs) and the before mentioned fuel pump. i might order the parts in the next few days, i just dont wont to catch static from the old lady :( . it will probly be awhile and im gonna do some head work, a cam, and around a 125 shot of n2o. that should wake it up, or blow it up. :)

yeah i realized i had posted in the wrong place. sorry and thanks to whoever moved.

you don't need an inline pump, just remove the bed and put a in tank walbro in it.

For that truck, in the 1/8th thats not too bad I don't think.

Some of the local S-series guys can't get thier 2nd gen 4.3 trucks to go that fast, so something from the early 90's running that good (assuming mostly stock) is very respectable.

i just done that. thats why it has the wrong fuel pump, they sold me the wrong one. i was gonna add the inline with the stock intank for the time being and eventually do away with the stock one. i had rather change the fuel pump on the frame instead of having to remove the bed or drop the tank (if i have to change it again). although the price of the intank is more appealing.

another reason is all my friends around here can never be found when you need help and theyre dumb as dirt when it comes to doing anything mechanical and they act like dirt and grease is a disease. hopefully i will be moving back to the lower part of the state soon, back around my hometown. i have friends there that know their stuff (more so than i do) and dont mind helping, or getting dirty. :D me and my best friend will do the heads and cam when i get down there.

yeah i had a peg legging, 5 speed 95 s10 with tbi and it was running 10.50s with just a k&n and exhaust. it was faster than most of the other s10s around at the time. granted this was almost 10 years ago. there were a few around running 9s, but they had more money in them than i would have spent and they also had mommies and daddies that could fork it out to em.

Re: ran my fastest time

My 1/8 times for the GT are high 9's but I am expecting better once i can get a little more traction. I got a pair of 10" rims that will have new rubber on them for next year so i am hoping for a 9.5 or better. there's a 14.xx (1/4) in it for sure if I can just get the power to the track.

what mods do you have done? im shooting for mid nines on motor and eventually i will install shot of n2o, probably a 125 or 150 shot. then hopefully i will get into the 8s. hopefully by this time next week i will have a full ignition upgrade with msd box, msd cap and rotor, msd coil, and taylor 8.2 wires. then its a walbro fuel pump and im done with mods for awhile. i hope this gets me into the low 10s or high 9s.

by the way anyone have any suggestions on what fuel pump to get and where to get it? i want the 255lph high pressure, but i dont want to drown it or screw up something in the injection.

Re: ran my fastest time

Sure, I bet someone has, but I wouldn't, this is your fuel system were talking about here. You want to risk ruining your motor over saving $20-$30 on a fuel pump. I got mine from Ron, great guy and he knows SyTy's

Well, you can view and read what I have posted HERE but it has taken a back seat to the SY and probably won't get any more attention until the SY see's an 11.9 or better.

Re: ran my fastest time

nice truck sonomagtlover. the link was pretty helpful. i hope to do head work and a cam eventually. headers will also probly come later. should have my ignition stuff tomorrow though. if i get it im gonna try to get it installed tomorrow. i know ill be like a kid in a candy store when the fedex man knocks on the door :) hopefully this uprgrade will gain me a tenth or three. i would love for it to put me in or close to high 9s, but im not gonna hold my breath for that. this will probly be all the mods i do for awhile, unless i can sneak around and get a walbro. the wife shit a brick when she found out i ordered all my ignition parts, so i told her i would wait awhile to order anything else.
