1994 Jimmy / Typhoon? Blk/Blk

Here is the deal...
I wanted a daily driver for cheap, just so I can run to the store or whatever if I want. My girlfriend and her kids moved in with me 1 1/2 years ago and soon after her Z71 went away. Then this past summer I sold my sportbike to get my Tyclone... SO my nice Silverado was donated to the kiddy cause... ie. it is now the morning and afternoon school bus! lol So i want something to drive for the heck of it until the Tyclone is done.

So I got a Jimmy that needed a few things that the Typhoon said it would happily donate to the cause! hehe

Here is what the listing for the truck said...
auto/od, a/c, digital dash, PW PL, Tilt, Cruise, Tow package, Black out package, AM/FM cassette, 174,000 miles, New electric fuel pump & filter, runs but needs work. Fuel delivery problem. i've been told fuel presure reg. spider mec., Good Michelin tires, Body fair, Interior needs good detail. Not ripped up.

And here is what is wrong...
- Needs a good buffing and wax...
- Drivers side rear door all dented up
- Tailgate bashed in and broken lock with no way to insert key lol Glass wont even pop open.
- needs interior detail
- need to remove Harley stickers
- rust on driver and passenger door bottoms, 2 small rust spots around windshield, rust hold on right rear quarter. (truck orig from Wisconsin for 1st 5 years before Texas)
- needs spider fuel injection whatever crap... $200-$300 ack
- needs CD player

Thats about it. I am taking the oem GMC grille off and putting it on the Tyclone and butting my aftermarket one on the Jimmy. hehe

I may even swap out the $90k mile drivetrain on the Typhoon with the 174k mile stuff on the Jimmy. Im almost sure to sway the shocks and little things as the Jimmy has cracked up bushings under it.

From the front...

The Harley stuff has to go!

The nice Vortec 191hp 4.3 still alive after 174,000 miles. WHOOO!

Not a bad interior for a 12 year old 4x4

And fixed the rear end and added the Typhoon tailgate last night. hehe

Not sure yet. I will see how it goes, but it does sound like a sweet sleeper since i just so happen to have a whole Typhoon drivetrain in my garage!

X2! You got it in the garage already. Any real car guy knows you can never have too many projects. Am I right?

The accesories probably.. they'd swap. Unless the truck burned, the wiring should be fine because it's all basically on the firewall and the intake. Just snag the ECM from the ty and the harness is a pretty easy swap.

Or, you could use the current harness and repin the ECM plugs

Yep, you should have everything. I'd be willing to bet you could do the swap in about 8 hours. The motor can be lifted out with the wiring harness still in place, just unplug at the driver's firewall and pull through on the passengers. Then you've got to undo the ground straps

Yep... and with the core support and front diff out, the whole shebang will come out as one unit. Carefully of course  .

Renz did think I was nuts when I told him I could put a motor in my Ty in 6 hours (starting with no motor mounts and having had it out for 3 years).... I only missed by about 35 mins

So is the plug at the drivers firewall the same on all S10s? Can a sy/ty harness be plugged into a 1st gen blazer and everything will be happy? I've been unable to find wiring diagrams to confirm this but it is what I am hoping to do..

Thanks,
-Matt

As near as I've been able to figure out they do not differ from regular S10's of the same vintage. I imagine that there were some year to year differences, but between 93 and 94 or 92 I think it would be fine. All that plug actually does is route power from the battery through the fuse panel to the engine (ie ECM, and anything else that uses a switched ignition 12+).
Also, the plugs can be repinned pretty easily if neccesary.

that sucks about the typhoon

that sucks about the typhoon

i cant even look at the pics it makes me sad, good luck with the tyclone though.

Added a new aftermarket Chevy grille and new front bumper last night. (I stole the OEM GMC grille for the Tyclone hehe)
