1st run @ Drag Strip disappointing a little

13.44 @ 100.52 was all she had in it for now til I figure out what all these little knobs and buttons do. Too crowded to get any more in.

I am new to this turbo thing. Anyone have any suggestions on tuning?

I did one run with Ultimate at T222 and got a 13.7 @ 99 out of it showing about 16 lbs of boost on guage.

The 2nd run, we put a 1/2 turn on the boost valve thing a ma bobber and set the Ultimate to T324 probably a little over-kill but did better.

60' on the 1st run was 2.05 2nd was 1.96

Any suggestions?

Also, what else do I have to play with to turn up the boost? When I turned the knob in 1/2 turn, I only saw a larger initial spike but seemed to still stay around 16 steady.

Are you making datamaster runs, or driving blind? T324 is a bad idea without high octane fuel (not 93). You really need to see what is going on before you run the aggressive timing maps on the ultimate.

forgot to mention, I had about 2 gallons of gas when I arrived (93 octane) and dumped 5 gal of 104 unleaded in it)

Hope that helps.

i'd say your sixty foot times are a little slow.. what kind of boost where you leaving with and what stall do you have? I don't see one listed in your sig but I see you have a 60-1 turbo which on a stock stall I would think would be mad lagg

well I certainly don't want to blow it up! Where would you say a safe setting on 93 would be? I was keeping it on T122. But my question then is how do I get the boost adjusted up above 16 or is 16 good enough?

I don't know about the stall.

Your 60's times are slow. You should at the very least be able to 1.8's.

For pump gas I would use T1, look at a scan tool and slowly turn the boost up until you get spark retard. You can try T2, but do everything in small steps and looking at a scan tool will go a long way towards not blowing up the motor.

Adjust the wastegate rod on the turbo or if it's an external wastegate, turn the bolt

T1 is for pump gas, T2 is for 100-104 octane, and T3 is for leaded 110 +.

Of course it all depends, as some people with efficient combos can run T2 on straight pump gas. but i would say run T1-17 until you can get your 60fts sorted out. The only way to prevent blowing up the motor is by running high octane or using a scan tool and monitoring knock retard,

My truck, which, I sometimes think, is cursed:roll: , will do a good 1/4 with a cruddy 60'. Go figure. Here's my version of a basic launch:

Stop, but the tranny in neutral. Push real hard on the brake. Rev the motor and let up quickly to build more vac. You will feel the pedal go down further. Now while idling put the tranny in drive, NOT overdrive, keeping that brake full on. Bring the rpm's up (start with 1500 or so for practice). Then slam the gas and release the brake. Do it too often or a bunch in succession without and they say it will break eventually. have fun. This system has served me all this season without breaking. Fingers crossed.
