Should I hear this hissing?

I installed a mechanical boost gauge and since I've been driving around with no radio in my truck I can hear lots of things. It seems when I get into boost I hear a faint hissing. It sounds like it might be the boost gauge, but I'm fairly sure I got a good seal on the nylon hose. I used teflon tape. Is this hissing normal or do I have a leak?

I get about 20 in vac.

I have a VDO mech gauge in my sy and I have no hissing.. I've also had plenty of autometer gauges in the past without any hissing

your hvac controls can also hiss if the stupid silicone connector/hose going into it cracked or sprung a leak. sounds like your boost gauge setup just isn't tight though.

Yea I hear that hissing when I put on the defroster. That hissing is different (I think) than the one I am hearing. I guess I'll just check the boost gauge fitting on the back of the gauge.

if your defroster hisses also you should check your hvac controls. Either the silicone connector or the hvac control itself prolly has a crack in it.

Does your cruise control work? if not, then the problem most likely is your hvac controller is leaking.
It could also be a brake booster leak as well.

You are hearing things lends me to believe that you have never driven around long without your stero. There are normal hissing sounds that come from forced induction engines. This most likely is the sound of your Turbo. Or you bought a leaking Turbo gauge. Maybe check the fluid on that? and by the way.......I am totally kidding.....I have no idea!!!....if that helps?......hsssssssst...over.....hsst

Does your cruise control work? if not, then the problem most likely is your hvac controller is leaking.

Actually my cruise doesn't work. It did, then it didn't, then it did. Now it doesn't again. I don't even try it anymore. I think it might be related to the phantom wiper problem though. When my phantom wipers occur I have no cruise. If I have cruise, I never get the phantom wiper problem.

If I do the tire tube pressure check that help me pin point leaks with everything, right? Cruise, hvac, boost gauge, etc?
