Has anyone used Air Ride's stuff... I called and they said they weren't sure if it could be done and referred me to a custom installer which said if I had the $$$ and the time then anything is possible. Any input?

Well i have a 97 ranger. My toss up is handling for the 2.3 turbocoupe engine swap. Or to be able to lay frame. You would also have to C-notch the rear of the frame to really get it low.Which i really havent thought much about on my Ty, but im thinking will involve some floor cutting. And the front i think will be possible, just with alittle bit of custom work. Thats because of the awd system. And he is right anything can be done for the right price. Yet it depends what you want to do with it. Though if i had a spar Ty it would be a awsome idea in my eyes

What are you trying to do, exactly? You could use air shocks front and rear with a coilover conversion and a rear 4 link (several setups available), if that's what you're after

Re: Air Ride Tech susp for Ty's?

I am trying to get multiple ride heights and suspension settings with the touch of a button. I used to own a couple of 1997 Range Rover 4.6HSE's with the adjustable suspension and enjoyed the benefits tremendously. Parking setting for loading and unloading (mainly groceries, but still), Highway setting which was lower to keep center of gravity down as well as wind resistance (I know, I know... I drive a brick) and a "normal" setting which was a bit higher to drive around town and now worry about the front bumper hitting drive-way entrances and exits... My main concerns with the Air Ride stuff (besides the money, of course) is I do not want to do something that will not allow me to return the truck to stock if need be, the extra weight, and keeping the truck looking stock (no bottles or pumps in plain sight)

Re: Air Ride Tech susp for Ty's?

airide is kind of tricky on these 4x4´s.the rear is straight forward with a 4-link or 2-link and a notch if you want to lay real low.
the front however is an airride-nightmare.there is a kit in existance that bolts the bags to the torsion bar-keys, but I don´t know about the ride-qality with this kit, since you combine 2 different spring-rates ( torsion bar + airbag).the best solution would be: using one of the coilover kits as a base, and using a strut similar to the shockwave instead of the coilover´s.but ther is not enough space to place an tapperd-sleeve bag or an double convoluted bag. the small firestone rolling sleeve bag would fit, but it hasn´t a high enough load rating for the front.
it might be possible to place a shockwave in there, but you would have to relocate the upper strut-mount further out.
you might want to contact the user scrapinclone, I think he has an airride installed in his sy.

Ahh ... yeah, a coilover conversion and just replacing the rear shocks will give you that (you remove a rear leaf) IIRC. As for hiding a tank / pump.... keep the pump in the stock location and mount the tank in place of the spare tire...
