i use one it works great i have it set up with my cruise controle switch .i arm a switch to use it . get on the line hold the brake then with my left hand hold the button on the cruise switch put my foot to the floor and when i let go of the crutse switch it come off . Its fast and easy no more waiting for the boost to come up and trying to hold it at the same psi . Do it you will not regret it . 8)

What happened to Scott he has not logged in since May? I trying to figure out how he hooked up his 2 step to the cruise control.. Has anyone hooked up there 2 step to the cruise control?

Scott

Can you please explain how you hooked this up to your cruise control?

Re: MSD 2 STEP

I would assume that his actual "cruze" is disabled and he's using the two wires that make a connection with the button to activate the 2 step. If your willing to loose the cruse then just get a ohm meter and find the two wires coming from the cruse in the colomn and the one's that make a connection when the button is depressed are the two you use for the rev limiter.

Ed: A friend and I thought of the same basic setup you have for my wife's Typhoon. It's not making anywhere near the power yours is but I was looking for a easier way for her to launch the truck so I thought using 2 roll controlls and putting a variable dial for setting the rev-limit RPM. I don't think that our stock converter'd truck will stall at 3000rpm (which is the lowest the 6AL go's) so you can go down to Radio Shack and get a reostat (dial) that has same top resistance as the 3000pill and go's lower to get under 3000rpm when plugged into the pill spot. That's how I get around the 6AL limits.
I figured it would be easier for her to get to the line .... press the brake a few times and hold the button down.... When she's ready just floor it and releise the button and the line locks/rev limit all let go and your on your way. She was having trouble judging when to start boosting and how much to hold ect. Once you get that setup you were talking about it should do the same thing every time.
Glad I'm not nuts and it works.. :)
Great information for everyone!

MSD makes an adsjust pill that goes from 1000-3000 rpm. I do like your idea better because I have pull the pill out and adjust it with a small scew sriver. I never had much luck with a the stock stall and 2 step (~2psi) but I didn't realize until later that I had it setup for a V8 instead of V6 so maybe that made a difference.

Re: MSD 2 STEP

the only thing that activates a 2 step is switched 12v, so the cruise is just acting as a switch.. you turn the switch, and power goes through to the 2 step and turns it on.. as mentioned, use an ohm meter and find out which two wires complete the circuit when swithced..

you can get creative... horn button for transbrake, rear windhiels wiper switch for nitrous.

Re: MSD 2 STEP

Why could'nt you just hook the 2 step up to the brake light switch/sensor?. This way you step on the brakes, the 2 step is activated, floor it, hit the chip, build boost and as soon as you let off the brakes the 2 step rev limit is turned off. No need to time and coordinate using a switch and releasing your foot off the brake pedal at the same time? any reason this would'nt work? :2cents:

Your not going to want the 2 step activated everytime you hit the brakes .

I DONT PERSONALLY HAVE EXPERIENCE SO IM TRYING TO LEARN BUT WHY DOES A LINE LOCK BENEFIT OVER FOOT BRAKING IN AN AUTOMATIC TRANS VEHICLE IF ESSENTIALLY YOUR FOOT AND THE SOLENOID DO THE SAME THING? THE BRAKES IN EITHER SITUATION DONT RELEASE AS FAST AS YOUR FOOT OR THE SOLENOID BECAUSE OF THE TIME IT TAKES THE FLUID TO DRAIN BACK? RIGHT? I AM INTERESTED TO HEAR IF ANYONE HAS SEEN A DIFFERENCE IN 60 FT TIMES FROM LEAVING W A LINE LOCK OVER FOOT BRAKE W A 2 STEP

Please don't leave your cap locks on. It is hard to read. Caps on internet forums is YELLING.

I doubt it has anything to due with the fluid drain back or foot release. I have never used a line lock, the syty owner that I know who uses a line lock is Ed Hess. They are useful for RWD vehicles in doing burnout (less stress on tranny) and the solenoids can be couple with other launch devices as well (2/3 steps rev limiter, boost controllers, Nitrous soleniods, etc.) so everything happens at the exactly at the same time. So you could lock your brakes with a line lock, set up your launch boost/RPM on the same switch. You would just floor it (and it wouldn't move) and launch with a button (releases the brakes, rpm limiter, etc)

Re: MSD 2 STEP

Yes... exactly as DG mentioned above... It makes launching simple. You'll get more consistat launches by using one button instead of trying to play the double foot game and push through the lights or over boost and cause excess damage to parts trying to launch.

I'll be doing that once my host of other "to do's" are done. Geesh I don't think i'll ever get to it. ;(
