1 blown head gasket, should I replace both anyway?

The pass side head gasket lifted, but driver's is fine. I'm really not wanting to tear into the driver's side. Should I go ahead and do both anyway? Or is it one of those "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" kind of things? I have a feeling what the answer is, but what would you do?

You will have it torn down so a couple of more bolts to do the driver's side won't kill ya. I would definately do both. Just my .02

Yeah, that's what I figured.

Has anyone had luck replacing the front cover seal without changing the oil pan gasket? We did this on my sy, pulled the cover, trimmed down the metal lip slightly so it would slide back on easy, and re-installed. It seems to seep a little though. Is there a better way? I'll change the second head gasket, but I really dont' want to do the oil pan.

if you replace one the other is not far behind and as far as the front cover pull in out with out loosening the pan(becuase it probably wont seal back) and the tab on the bottom that are bent out grind those off

then brake clean the area and i use a little starting fluid after(becuase it will not leave a residue and it leaves a really nice dry sealing area)

then put a nice bead of silicone on the corners and a very healthy bead on the cover in that grove and try to get it in one shot becuase more than likely if you move it you will have an air pocket that will push out and have a leak( if that happens i have a fix for that just ask)

i usually let the silicone or rtv whatever you want set over night or atleast a couple of hours to dry

o yeah if you use a lot of cleaner change the oil

good luck
