Re: hughes converters any good?

Well you have two people in this thread already who have said they had problems with their transmission that had Hughes converters in them, I would take that as a sign.
I went and searched Summit for TC's and came up with a handful and they don't seem to be a good deal, they seem to be
CHEAP and that would scare me.

Why wouldn't you support a vendor anyway?
George and
Waller both sell converters, FYI
I have been running a Hughes for over three years with NO problems.
"3K stall TC w/lock up part #HP2230L $412.75 on 10/03 through paceparts.com list price is $956.37. The mounting pads on this TC need to be drilled with a 7/16" drill to accept three grade eight 7/16" X 14 bolts one inch long. The nut goes the motor side and gets 262 (red) LocTite."
At cruise, I can go from vacuum to 15 pounds of boost in less than one second with my stock turbo. However, I have a
KNOWN good transmission. I have made dozens of mid twelve second passes at the track with 20 psi. I have lost count how many times at I have launched it on the street... I don't "baby" it too much and I have been running drag radials on all four for the past two years to boot.
My truck is not a daily driver, I drive it less than 3K a year. I would not recommend a higher stall converter for any truck that is driven every day especailly if it's in stop and go traffic. It will
KILL your gas mileage due to the higher stall. Also don't overlook cooling when going to a higher stall since they generate so much more heat.
