Since bowtie blocks are discontinued, what's next for powerful SyTy motors?

I was just thinking today about this and reading alot about bowtie blocks. I've read all the posts on here about them being discontinued so basically what is on the horizon for big build SyTy motor's?

Are we going to be stuck with factory blocks and their limited capability, unless you opt to go over to a V-8 motor?

or

Is there any advancements coming out to replace the bowtie or upgrade the factory block to its capabilities?

Just curious what people had seen or thought about the future of big horsepower motors. I know a stock block will probably be more then sufficiant for me, but I still love reading about the big power builds people do from time to time.

GM performance parts is coming out with a new LSx block I guess. Maybe they already did, I dont pay very close attention. Supposed to be pretty badass, if I build another im not messin with the six, might as well go V8 and go all out.

Well, I know the Buick crowd went through this with the Stage I/II blocks. Basically, the Stage blocks became scarce, people hoarded them and the price kept climbing, and then finally TA Peformance began making an aftermarket block. Still a pricey piece, but at least they are available.

Maybe one of our vendors would be interested in stepping up and selling an aftermarket block. Or maybe it would be worth contacting TA, and seeing if they would be willing to make one. :)

I dunno man...sigh...there were a ton of TRs made (~200k IIRC :dunno: ) and not many sytys in comparison so Id question if the customer base is there to sell enough to justify the costs involved. Dont get me wrong Id love to see it happen but to make any money the price would prolly be pretty scary to us folks with less than fat wallets.

Just going through my head on how many people run bowtie blocks here and I know the # is still just double digits.

I don't see much high performance markets away from syty for the 4.3 block either.

Eventually they may end up being scarce, but currently for every truck I actually see with a Bowtie block, it seems like I see 2 for sale.

There are still a lot of bowtie blocks out there and I think will see a number of them for sale this spring. Since GM announced discontinuing them several circle track racing bodies have decided to switch to V8s. Good even fire cranks are going to still be salty though.

Last time I looked into this. I believe. (but dont quote me, its been a while..) But the block's they offered for the 3.8 are around the same price as a bowtie for us. ($2-3k) And I think can hold something around 2k hp.

If a vendor were to remake our blocks, I'd go ahead and take a vote on them making it a deep skirt somehow. That would be soo bad ass. 6 bolt main's here we come.

i surely sell alot more bowtie parts to people outside the syty crowd. Everything from racing airplanes, to dunebuggys, sandrails, comp eliminator dragsters, etc.

I live about a mile away from TA Performance. The owner stops in at the Pavilions car show from time to time. I'll pop my head in one of these days and mention it. He makes a very good product, but you're going to pay a premium for it.

I would have to agree. The V6 bowties are much more popular in other circles than Sy/Ty land. There should be enough total demand for parts that some one will step up and make something similar when existing bowtie's are used up.
