With the key removed what does it say? Mine is centered horizontal.

With the key turned and truck not started what does it say? Mine shoots up to 7psi before the truck is even started.

Then i start it and it stays fixed at 7psi.

You sure you don't have a 1 bar map sensor installed?

Try to swap the map sensor from your other truck and check what it does, it could fix alot of problems if they installed a wrong map sensor, like high idle etc.

Re: Look at your boost gauge... Im having trouble

you didn't accidentally put a check valve or something in that line did you? .... try putting some pressure on the sensor... I've had one stick before (use a compressor at 20psi or something similar)

Stock boost gauge sucks. I hope that's not what you're going by.

Im not going by anything besides it doesnt seem right that when the key is turned the stock boost gauge needle shoots up.

A check valve in the line?

Again... I touched NOTHING on the truck,. it ran great and we were driving it around. Then next time we started it without touching anything it was idling at 2500 rpm. Since then i started swapping parts around from the wrecked truck to this ones trying to solve the problem.

Do you have a scan tool to see what ECM says your Map sensor is reading (incase your Intrument cluster is broken)? It should be vacuum if the engine is idling (even at 2000 rpm). If it doesn't you need to figure out why it is doing that either map, ecm, wiring, vaccum line etc. If its reading boost you know its not the vacuum line or check valve)

i think thats what he means by scan tool - datamaster or tunerpro are the scan tools used most often - cables can be had at moates.net or akmcables.com and sometimes they pop up on the board in the fs sections.

What he said. If your serious about working on a SyTy, a scan tool such as datamaster is a must. I might even go as far as saying it should be required...

Not cheap huh?
Is it user friendly or do i need to be a mechanical genious to use it? I know nothing about this stuff.

Call it cheap insurance ;)

$200 vs. $5000 for a new engine starts to look like a deal.

Datamaster is easy to use. Just install the software and plug in the cable. After you get used to it, you'll want to keep a laptop in your truck all the time.
