You were one of a few people who bought various products and tried them. How did they all work?

is it true that you can only weld the old tab back on?i was getting my two front wheel claddings repainted and one tab broke off (lost it) and the guy fixing them said he cant make a new tab because any different type of plastic wont weld right or some bs...

I'll let ya know how mine that I did last night come out. I used some of that plastic epoxy. I was working on the front pass cladding last night fixing some cracks and putting a tab back on.

it doesn't have to be perfect, but another close type of plastic should hold if welded..

I used pvc cement. worked AWSOME use the purple primer first. harden's like A rock. I could not bend the cladding. would not break.

What should you do if you don't have any tabs? I was thinking about making some out of sheet metal bent into L's with the leg of the L attached to the cladding. Or should I get some form of plastic to remake the tabs out of?

go to your local body shop, ask if you can have one of the front bumpers in the pile of them they will have in the back.. they usually don't have a problem with it.. cut it up into tabs. :tup:

That should work. Unless they sell them for $10 each to the bumper recycler. That what I always did with mine. :lol:

so here is what i did.... last night i took a piece of cladding that was broke into 3 pieces and tested some plastic weld to see how it did.

this stuff is made by permatex..called perma poxy 5 min plastic weld and can be bought at advance auto and auto zone.

cleaned the pieces to be welded...scuffed around the repair site real well with a red scottbrite pad. cleaned again with prep-all adhesive and grease remover.

applied the epoxy to both pieces and stuck them together....held in place for a min or so... let dry for about 30 min.

took the tab and tried to break the weld by bending the tab against the cladding piece....all 4 tabs broke in a diff location and the weld stayed together.

pretty damn impressive if you ask me. and all for $3.79...

now i'm not sure how well this stuff would work on crack that would be visible once the repair was made. i plan to try and take the same arch and weld the seam back togehter tonight and sand it and see how it turns out.
