I broke my factory propshaft and went to Napa and they sold me what they called a heavy duty replacement but with no vicious coupling and they said it would be fine .I drove it before starting my restoration on my sy and it seemend fine .It looks the same as rpms shaft they have for sale my ? is what does this do to my truck is it 50/50 now or is it still awd because I know it transfers power to the most needed wheels or maybe the vs inside the transfer case takes care of this ?Any help would be great thanks guys

How bout it?
Re: Prop Shaft ?

Not exactly sure what you are asking here, but our trucks are not 50/50. I think they are closer to 40/60 front to back. Please explane.

Re: Prop Shaft ?

I think that when he said viscous coupling he meant the CV joint on the front part of the shaft. I could be wrong but all the upgraded props I have seen have that CV replaced with a u-joint type of connection. And BTW, BLKLS2, the shaft won't have anything to do with the percentage/amount of power transfer,,,,unless of course, it's not there..:)

The transfer case does all that.

That's the 4x4 shaft. It doesn't fit the front yoke correctly. Our yoke is too big. You can CRAM it on if you use the bolts to tighten it down, but it won't work right.
It will vibrate. If you want the Gilbert(true HD), I have one that a guy ordered and then never paid for because he sold his truck. Sale price for $428 shipped to the lower 48. Comes with new pinion seal and HD bolts. PM me if interested.

Re: Prop Shaft ?

Sorry about the confusion guys ! I know the truck is 65/35 but I didn't know that was a cv joint under that boot I thought that there was some sort of coupling that helped transfer power but sy756 explained my ? Thank you and also this shaft from napa fit great and has no vibrations of any kind and it was under $300 with the old core Thanks guys !!
