taken from the injector post. i think jim wrote these. ill take pictures to go along with the description when i do mine this weekend.

Here are the steps for the swap...
The best way I have found to r and r the fets is as follows.

1. Scrape away the coating on the bottom side of the circuit board around
where the fets are soldered to the ECU.
2. Remove the solder from the leads of the fets and printed circuit board
3. Remove the bracket that is holding the fets and other devices to the heat
sink. First remove all the screws holding the plastic retainer, then pry it
off slowly and carefully. Try not to break it.
4. Make sure you have most if not all the solder holding the fets into the
printed circuit board removed. After you remove the plastic bracket you
should be able to wiggle the fets out of the printed circuit board.
5. There is a little bead that is attached to the fet but may stick to the
printed circuit board. MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THESE onto the new fets. If you
do not the car will run real bad and you will get the CES light flashing
from all the noise. These beads prevents the high frequency noise from
reaching the CPU circuitry.
6. Place the fet into the holes on the circuit board that the olds one came
out from. DO NOT FORGET THE BEADS!
7. Center them up and reinstall the plastic retainer to hold them in place
while you re-solder them.
8. Cut off excess leads length, reinstall cover and re-wire the ECU to run P
and H and you will good to go.

Re: where are the instructions for installing injector drivers?

I wonder if this could cause a false knock reading with the knock sensor disconnected. I will have to show this to the TV shop that upgraded the drivers for me and see what he thinks.

Anyone happen to have the diagram for what is needed to convert to P&H? I think you need to jumper a few pins and maybe move a pin or two in the harness but I want to know for sure
Thanks

even better

If anyone wants to source the parts from mouser/allied/etc. and is unsure of their skills, I can do this for you for next to nothing. (I work on electronics for a living)

See that little bead on the 1 leg on the left of each of those drivers? Make sure you put that on the new drivers. Be aware that the better route is redoing the whole harness. Not just putting a bigger driver in and beating on it.

Ok, I'll bite.... what's involved with "redoing the whole harness"? I have no Sunbirds or GM wecking yards here at all so I would be a happy camper if you could explain it for me since I have zero to look at / compare too.

Thanks!

There's nothing to bite on. No secrets. It's right here:

Basically, the syty only uses ONE of the injector drivers. Upgrading ONE injector driver pulls more amps, buids more heat and can make the life of the ecm shorter. Hence why you need to put in a larger fuse for the ecm. If you do like this gentleman did, it's a non issue and each injector does EACH bank. Takes a huge load off of the driver.
