DETAILS:
1992 GMC Typhoon black/black #2040
- 89,999.7 miles
- Clear Texas title in hand
- New 245/50/16 tires
- Boyd 16" billet wheels see pic
- $3000 spent on rebuilt motor & turbo 7 months ago
- rebuilt transmission within 24 hours of the crash
- near perfect interior! see pic

The owner was drunk and pulled out on to a highway THE WRONG WAY! There is a smell of beer in the front seat and pieces of broken beer bottle on the floor. I believe that has something to do with why he didnt claim it on insurance. See pic

After over a decade of dreaming of getting a Typhoon... I finally got one! Too bad its junk! hahaha

I have already started tearing it apart and documenting my progressin the following album.

I am only keeping the interior and windows... (the ENTIRE interior down to every last screw!) The rest is being bagged and tagged and ready forsale on eBay.

Now my LT1, AWD Tyclone really will be a Ty clone! heh

Lots of work to do. Do you know what happened to the truck( what it hit), and if the driver was o.k.,or was it bought from a insurance co. and you just get the truck with no answers.

It sounds like your going to still make a Ty-Clone. IMO fix the Typhoon. Swap the frames and spend some money straighten out the body.

X 2 what he said and in the long run it will be worth alot more as a legit Typhoon.

Well I could spend a fortune to build a legit Typhoon, yes.

I could tear the whole Ty down... then straighten the frame and straighten the body. But a new roof and weld it on and straighten out the firewall. Then I could scrap my mint body Jimmy thats all preped and ready for paint... take off the LS1 brake conversion, vette rims, shaved doors and tailgate, wiring harness converted over to run a LT1 and Ty gauges, notch the striaghten Ty frame for the A/C on the LT1, swap the LT1.... and when im done... I will have $15k invested into a legit clear title Typhoon!

Or I could rebuild the typhoon back to factory.,.. spend thousands on all the stuff that broke... ($1k alone for the front bumper cover...). then have a wonderfully unreliable SyTy and drop all kinds of money into it to keep it running. And when i want to go FAST, I can send my motor out to a SyTy specialist, drop $20k on doing the same thing that $5k would do for my reliable LT1... Hmmmm... decisions decisions....

The body on this Typhoon is whacked... i have a clean body that will be emissions exempt here in 4 years hehe...

I would happily swapall my goodies to a Ty body if i could find one for a decent deal. but i havent yet. that is how this search started. That was my exact plan with this truck... http://www.tycloness.com/igallery/viewer.php?albid=178&stage=3 i wanted to swap the engine and brakes... But he wouldnt comedown enough in price for me.

I want my Tyclone for now...

Oh and it would be cheaper for me to buy a nice clean ty than fix this one...

Neither door closes or opens without brute force... took a prybar and about 20 minutes of messin with it to get the drivers open... most everything up front needs to be replaced. this truck needs a parts truck to finish it!

oh yeah, nothing fell on the roof here.. thats how badly bent the frame and cab are form the head on collision with another car on the highway!

Re: I just bought 92 Ty #2040!

Now I understand. Looks like it's coming along.
I've about got the front back together on mine. Did find out that the bumper support is bent pretty bad but you can't tell it by looking at the cover. But I'm going to go ahead and take the cover off and do some "tweeking" on the support.
Later.
