Headers, any interest?

I talked to a friend of mine who is a local chassis fabricator. His work is the best around and Ive seen him build drag cars and road race cars from nothing more than a fiberglass body. He mentioned before that he could make me headers for much less than price of whats out there now. I finally asked him just how much for headers and downpipe for the stock turbo. He said he could do it for around $1200 for a set of stainless steel headers. Im not sure if this includes downpipe, he didnt specify and I didnt think to ask but if there is enough interest I'll talk to him about making more than one set and I'll ask if that includes the downpipe. This isnt an exact price by the way, just a ballpark.

Im thinking about seeing what he could do for a coilover suspension setup also.

He's not gonna get rich making them. Let him make a set for yours first. There are gonna be a LOT of bugs to work out.

Im not sure the turbo will sit in the same location as stock so the downpipes might be different. It will also be on a truck with solid mounts, so you might have to have the solid mounts for them to fit right.

Im undecided if I want to do these or go twin turbo. It wont be anytime too soon also since Im starting a new job and I want to make sure its going to work out before blowing money on headers. When I do get this done I'll talk to him about a price to duplicate some and make sure he wants to. Then I'll post up again and see who wants them. At that time he will need a deposit I'm sure and it might be a month or two to get them done.

why stainless Mild steel ceramic coated will hold up alot longer and better,
I always thought stainless was better. I could have it done in whatever material I want. Why is mild steel better?

I have a set of twin turbo ss headers that are currently off my truck . If they got replaced with money , I wouldnt be upset .
