Good place for some work on the Syclone? Morgan, you've been there right? What was your experience?

Thanks,

Vince

At the moment, I cant recommend Dynotech. The owner of the business has been trying to sell it for well over a year now, basically so he can go back to Long Island and just build transmissions which is what he specializes in.

The other employees that worked there when I was still dealing with them has either quit or been fired for various reasons.

What exactly are you looking to have done?

i have actually delt with them alot rexcently. ive had a full engine build which i dont have 1 complaint about but for the transmission i had to bring it back twice. once for breaking the output shaft and most recent the pump failed. i gotta say there work takes very long but they have done right by me. they are a little heavy with the price though. they are in the process of moving to long island as we speak. all in all they did good for a local shop that has experiance with these trucks. that is if you have a long waiting time and a couple spare bucks to spend

Dynotech is right around the corner from me (5 miles away)... they are very expensive and I don't personally like dealing with them. No matter what, the guy there thinks they are the best and no one else could do the work but them. I talked them about doing a few things and the guy talked to me like I was a moron. So I saved myself the money and insults and did all my own work. The previous owner Fred Vetter was much better and we dealt with him alot when my father had his Grand Nationals and T-Types. just my two cents...

Moving huh, too bad. Where in NJ/PA are you all getting work done? Isn't there a GN specialist close to Atco?

Morgan, I am not just sure what I need. I may have a knock in the motor but that has yet to be determined. I may also go all out and have the engine built. At a minimum, I want some exhaust and intake work and again, perhaps some internal engine stuff.

Thanks,

Vince,

What exactly are looking to have done. They are not good with trannies, my friend had 5 trns done they all blew up. I use a local shope here in Jersey Cottman/Aamco Trans place and its been in the truck for 2 years without a problem. They pulled it and reinstalled for like 1900 bucks complete. They only replace what is needed to be done. I also have a local guy that builds race cars who could do some work like headers, exhaust and so forth. We just installed RPM Coilover set-up in my truck.

Here are some pics of his truck too. "He has a Syclone"

I bought a Ty late in 2005 that had a Dynotech motor in it. I knew about Typhoons and I didnt drive it hard. I never went past half throttle in her and within 2 weeks of my purchase managed to snap the crankshaft. Mind you, I never took my ty to the track. Upon inspection of the motor, I was told that there was high compression pistons in the motor. I dont know how true this was but I cant see any reputable shop putting that in a turbo motor. All I can say is that my ty wont ever see that shop again for anything. Just my thoughts. It also had a chip that they designed but no one could give me any details on it. Needless to say, I have driveability issues that probably require getting a new chip to resolve since I dont know what this chip is trying to do......In fairness, I dont know how many miles was put on the engine before I got the truck nor do I know what punishment the previous owner put on it.........Either way, Dynotech is not an option for me....

none yet, Ive been searching for a cheap/reasonably priced 98-03 540i Sport 6-Speed w/ Black Leather.

Ive looked at a few, but they turned out to be basket cases. I have found a few others that are "too nice" for a new project, if I wasnt planning on doing anything to it I would have bought one of them.

Basically Im looking for something with high miles or machanics special w/ clean title.

I dont pay others to fix my cars (with exception to auto transmissions), not to mention I plan on taking out most of the expense when I start modifying it, so thats not a worry.

As for power to spare, I plan on having 200 extra HP to spare over a CTS-V when Im done ;)

Re: Anyone deal with Dynotech in manville NJ?

Based on the experiences of one guy that's relatively local to me (we've run into each other at a local Wal-Mart) and his experiences with Dynotech in the time I've known him, I won't take my truck there. I have no idea how his situation got so bad, but its a horror story that has made my decision for me.
