Reverse License Plate Lookup?

Anyone have an account with one of those reverse-lookup sites? Someone just backed into my Porsche. I'm a little worried they will try to lie their way out of it. Didn't have my digicam in the car, but would really like to go snap a pic of their car just in case they try to remove the evidence. Just looks like scuff marks on their bumper cover, but creased the whole rear quarter panel on the Porsche.

Called and was told if no public property damage, no injury, and both parties have proof of insurance, no officer would be dispatched. Exchange info and move on.

Call them back and tell them it was a hit and run if the other driver is not available for comment.

A cop will show up.

Most states won't issue reports for small accidents ike that on a private lot. I know they don't do it here.

Ha ha, that’s odd.
One time I swerved to miss a deer and put my 740 Volvo in the ditch. I called my buddy to pull me out of the ditch. Then I called a tow truck and a cop showed up. He gave me a ticket for not notifying the police first. What a joke, I got it dropped. Thats small town Wisconsin cops for ya.

In MA they have to do a report for $1000, which is pretty much any damage on a Porsche, aftrer having one bad expereince in life. My thumb rule is if the other persons fault make sure the police show up...

this is true, in the north if you dont hit the deer and crash your car you will get a ticket for sure. so hit the deer next time.:tup:

Some locals will not want to do a vehicle report in a private lot. Ok fine, two key things. If they hit your vehicle or YOU HAVE REASON TO BELIVE THEY HIT YOUR VEHICLE and they did not notify you, it is now a criminal offense that must be investigated. Make the 911 call any way and you now have a receord of the date / time and response of the dispatcher call log that can be used to support your claim.

Well a license plate lookup is only available through ncic/state dmv to police. I never heard of police not taking a report of damage, no matter where it happened. I must be too used to big city policing, we get called for EVERYTHING, and have to take a report even if theres no damage.

Trust NO ONE when it comes to car accidents, people will lie and say you hit them, i know its happened to me :rant:

Using the words "might" can help a lot sometimes. When calling the police say "I just got into an accident that was not my fault and I think the other person might try and run from the area." They will show up then, and they cant do jack shit. You were covering your ass.
