Cluster Question ? odo and trip out on it

Anybody ever tried to rebuild or fix a odometer thats not working in a Typhoon or syclone. mine everything works but the trip and odometer. the speedo is fine, tach is fine im guessing something broke inside maybe, cant find any other reason, havent taken it out yet. any ideas or experiences

I have the exact same problem. I've bought replacement odo and trip counters but haven't tried to install them yet. Hopefully somebody chimes in about this.

If you can take the cluster out of the vehicle, you have solved 90% of your problem.
Need some torx drivers to take the cluster apart.
It is highly likely the gears are no longer meshing together or they are stripped out either in the motor or the meter.

If I remember correctly the speedo, odometer and trip meter use the same signal from the ECM.

Where did you get the replacements? My ODO works but the trip meter is dead.

I got lucky and scored a set off of another board member awhile back. Dunno if they are the same as any other S-series dash cluster.

Can one of you guys that have your cluster apart send me some good pics of the odometer and trip meter motors in place and possibly out?
I'm trying to see if I can get us some replacement motors. I just sent Roy's cluster back after having it like 2 months (sorry Roy), and got in a hurry toward the end and forgot to take pics. Please send pics to

If I can get them, I'll try to get a bunch so we can get a discount. The little pot metal gears seem fine. It's the motor itself that appears to be going bad.

i wna know if i put a cluster in out of a 91 Bravada will it work, if it does, that rules out my cluster as far as is bad and its not the wires to the ecm

George, I don't have mine out yet and won't for a week or two but if one of the other fellas doesn't beat me too it, I'll send you pic's when I pull it out.

well i have the correct tires and wheels on, the trip is working, the odometer isnt still
